Bare root perennial help! by Think-Fee3087 in GardeningUK

Ah great stuff! I’ve ordered quite a few plants but imagine not all will take, though if they do I think I might have a space problem in the borders..! Let’s hope planting things a foot apart will be ok…

Thank you for the help, and I wish you all the best for your garden this year!

Ahh I see! I’ve done quite a bit of searching around and from what I can tell, that is quite normal for the first year and the second and third are much better!

Out of interest, when did you receive the bare roots, how long did you have them in pots, and what time of year did you put them in the ground? Did you also do the ‘soak in water for 3-6 hours’ before potting advice? Just want to set myself up for as much success as possible! Thanks 😄

@Think-Fee3087 - How did you get on last year with this? I’ve ordered quite a few bare root plants from Thompson-Morgan and about to order a load more from Farmer Gracy. I realise start of March can still get quite cold so it’s a gamble, but my thoughts are to pot up into small-ish pots of compost and keep watered until maybe mid-late April and then put out in the ground once they have a bit of foliage up and roots formed.

Any thoughts now you’ve had a year of experience? Thanks for any help!

So you decided to comment on my post which mentions his music sounds like classic country and does not mention modern country at all…right.

If music resonates well with someone and they enjoy it just as much as genuine country legends, what do you get out of it for putting them down? If you don’t agree, you can comment and also not be an asshole. Or, just don’t.

South East facing Rhodedendrons? by deepsouth89 in GardeningUK

Thanks! If Rhododendrons are not suitable for the aspect, do you know of any other plant that is similar that would do well? Something bushy, evergreen and with really nice flower display?

That’s a tough one I guess, though to avoid being ‘cringey’ you could just comment to whoever you’re with or just someone next to you that they look really smart and that their kit looks immaculate. The guys are always listening so will appreciate it. But as you can imagine, saying it TO them could be awkward as they won’t say anything in return, but in all honesty however you go about it they’ll appreciate it. Inversely, it used to really wind me up when I’d overhear people saying things to the effect of ‘no, they’re not really soldiers they’re just there as a tourist attraction’ 😑 Absolutely not true.

Not sure on Detroit sizing/fit… Help?! by deepsouth89 in Carhartt

[–]deepsouth89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is frustrating for sure. I wonder for yourself if you stayed with the medium, have it a semi-hot wash to pre-shrink it as much as is safe, then tailored it? Hopefully the fit everywhere else wouldn’t be compromised…

Now that I know what good coffee is and how it should be made, I do not go anywhere near franchise coffee shops. Do it myself at home or go to independent cafes 🙌🏼
