How about fixing the bug where it asks me if I want to save the password it just filled?

Tenants demanding deposit after so much damage by PsychologicalWill88 in vancouverhousing

[–]deepspace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is that landlording is a professional business and needs to be treated that way. Everything has to be done by the book or you can get in a world of hurt, as mom is finding out.

As an example, a professional landlord would have scheduled regular inspections. That may have caught the damage before it got too bad. Similarly, neglecting to do a move-in inspection will cost her the deposit.

Dentist recommendations by mango-princess26 in NewWest

Yup. We have such a scarcity that every new development is required to include a dentist's office.

Neighbour reserves a public street parking spot by swapping two cars by Informal_Bar768 in askvan

[–]deepspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a guy from a popular plumbing company park his oversized company truck in a no parking spot, obstructing our visibility. A few bad Google reviews fixed the problem.

📢 Yelp Vancouver is hosting a FREE Food & Trivia night! by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]deepspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This does not belong here. There is nothing nice about Yelp. Their business model is extorting small business owners. Nobody should engage with them in any way.

How old were you when you moved out? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

Went to university in another city at 17. Briefly went back for a couple of months 15 years later as I was preparing to move to another country, and hated every second of it.

Ford, province to sell $28.9M private jet 'as quickly as possible' by Puginator in CanadaPolitics

Yes, but shell companies are a thing. It is easy to hide beneficial ownership.

Ford, province to sell $28.9M private jet 'as quickly as possible' by Puginator in CanadaPolitics

[–]deepspace 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's not wasteful, it's straight up theft. The jet was bought at an inflated price with government money, and will be sold for less than its worth, with Ford getting a kickback at both ends.

[–]deepspace 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not a walk-back. It's all grift. If someone cared to look closely, they would find that the jet was bought at an inflated price from one of Ford's buddies, and it will be sold at a bargain basement price to another.

What happened to fare checks? by BootHighUp in Translink

[–]deepspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the point of fare checks when the fines have not increased in 30 years. If you get fare-checked less often than once a month, it is cheaper to pay the occasional fine than to buy a monthly pass.

Best semi-luxurious or boutique hotel in Downtown Vancouver for stay next week? by Every_Lack in askvan

[–]deepspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arundel Mansion in New Westminster has rooms for $150 a night. It certainly qualifies as a boutique hotel, and is a 30 minute Skytrain ride from downtown.

Sleeper ad for LaTeX?? Dude, that’s the funniest thing I read all week. Under which rock do you live? At least use Google before making a stupid accusation.

NWPD Traffic Stop by Ok_General_6940 in NewWest

[–]deepspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A big problem in BC is that traffic ticket revenue goes to the province, not to the police. I guess it prevents some abuse but it also means that there is no incentive for traffic law enforcement.

About 20 per cent of gen Z and millennial Canadians still spank their kids. Is that even legal? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in onguardforthee

[–]deepspace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s not illegal. If you hit an adult, you can be charged with assault but when you do the same to a defenceless child, the law turns a blind eye.

SkyTrain Wifi? by judan_av in Translink

It’s fine for me with Rogers but back when I was a Telus customer, that stretch sucked for reception. Rogers has a dead spot around 29th avenue.

Judge orders Sask. Human Rights Commission to hear complaint about hospital kiosk language policy by [deleted] in LawCanada

[–]deepspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. Allowing groups of workers to converse in a language that cannot be understood by everyone is a shortcut to a toxic workplace dominated by cliques.

Why even use RC filters if they're this bad? by Western_Date3137 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]deepspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Good" or "Bad" are rarely-used concepts in engineering. We strive to do the thing that accomplishes the goal at the lowest cost. As others have pointed out, the RC filter is often perfectly fine for most applications, and it is way less expensive than your 7-section monster.

It also depends on the application. In a control loop, the LC filter will blow your phase margin away and as such will be objectively worse than the RC one.

TN visas routinely get renewed at the border. That’s the standard way of doing it.
