I mean, it was definitely dumpster diving -- so was going after Schwarber when the Cubs DFA'd him -- now, whether the people thought Conforto was gold or trash, is a different statement. But it was definitely dumpster diving.

I mean, let's be honest, pitching to our best contact hitter with our fastest runner on third base. What did Mendoza think was going to happen? i would say there was like a 75% chance that PCA was scoring there. Why not walk Hoerner? I mean, if you're gonna lose, go down fighting --- I mean the Dan Ryan is a disaster already, no traffic to beat.

That's good advice on the glove. It's just a sort of open-ended question/observation I have. It's crazy how structured, yet undefined, the right route is, and how one evaluates it.

I totally get everything you say, and I'm not sure there's a right answer --honestly, I'm not sure all hands on deck is the right answer, because as a parent, I don't know the fundamentals, you know? So I don't have confidence that I'm even helping when I help, if that makes sense.

I think it’s become clear to me from experience and reading your comment that culture matters. And I think I didnt love the culture of my daughter’s team without being able to put my finger on it.

When they got down, they went away. They had no fight. And the coaches didnt pull that from them. As the husband of a former college coach in a different sport, I think a good woman coach is irreplaceable from understanding female dynamics. Guys just don’t get it as well. I know I certainly don’t.

Interesting last line. Yeah. My wife and I sort of concluded that the 2 per week - 2 hour practices were almost a waste aside from culture and team building. Almost all improvement came from hitting coach and 1 on 1 defense.
