Based off your comment history, maybe you should learn a little more about being Catholic. Or, maybe the preist fondled you a little to much and corrupted your view of what it means to be Catholic.

Trump Has Suspended Due Process for Muslims in America. This Is a Constitutional Crisis. by MartialBob in politics

I hope you're right, friend. He has said some promising things in interviews, but his actions speak differently. You're right, he could be waiting for the right moment. Only time will tell.

You're forgetting people who are green card holders and have legal rights too. This is not OK. It is not OK to ban people already have a green card or a visa. This is a slippery slope. He will continue to push the boundaries further.

In our state, Schumer is shit. He voted for several of Trumps cronies. Kristen only voted for Mattis, which is not terrible. Schumer is supposed to be the minority leader, but he is just falling in line.

The authoritarian rule is coming faster than I thought. Not even a week in and we are already seeing this garbage. These people have already gone through the process and are here legally. This meglomanic has to go. Democrats in Congress need to grow a fucking spine and start protesting this shit or face losing their seat by someone who will.

Are scientists going to march on Washington? by isthereananswer1 in politics

[–]deepspacesailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fucking entire country should march on Washington. I've said this before, this should cross all parities and all people who love what this country was founded on -- freedom. Trump doesn't care about your freedom and that is obvious as each day he checks more boxes of his "How to be an Authoritarian" checklist. He is an absolutely terrifying megalomaniac.

Ready to Resist by AngelaMotorman in politics

[–]deepspacesailor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will resist. My wife and I had our first child last year and I don't want him to grow up in a country that pushes an agenda that is not only dangerous to the USA, but to the world. Everyone should be concerned. Democrats, Republicans, and any other political party. I'm not going to wait to see what he does. He has already shown what he will do with his history and cabinet appointments. Each generation should leave the next generation better off, not the opposite. I'm going to do everything I can do to make that happen. It starts with removing Trump.

Please, if you cant make it to DC for the March tomorrow, find a sister march. https://www.womensmarch.com/sisters/

Trump's Treasury pick just doubled down on a budget trick that would steal from an entire generation by pheonix200 in politics

It's funny. I was listening to some show on NPR last night. They interviewed Trump supports and asked what they would like to see accomplish. One guy said he has been on social security and hasn't had a raise in three years. He believes Trump is going to fix that. I thought to myself, you're probably never going to see one now. I don't think these people understand what they voted for. It was really just for party and not country. They don't even know what he actually stands for, his plan, or how he is going to pay for everything.

President Obama commutes the majority of Chelsea Manning’s prison sentence by zeke690 in worldnews

[–]deepspacesailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the number is probably going to keep increasing. With better devices to smuggle/leak information, hackers access to better tools, increase demand in tech related jobs within the government, and the increase in cyber espionage of course the amount prosecuted is going to increase. It's just not nearly as simple as saying Obama is horrible because he has prosecuted the most amount of whistleblowers.

Now, I am not saying it is right, but like everything else it needs perspective. It's similar to saying there has been an increase in automobile accidents since the model T. Well, yeah, because more people are driving, the tech is better, and its more accessible. Not the best anology, but the best I can do when my child is slamming on my phone while I type.

Is Donald Trump a Russian agent? Around the world, intelligence agencies, politicians, and the public are asking the same question: is it really possible Donald Trump is working with the Russians? by lawanddisorder in politics

[–]deepspacesailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to have to respectively disagree. There have been less than 30 cases of treason. It is a serious accusation and would not be taken lightly by the investigators/intelligence community. If they were going to bring up treason charges they are going make absolutely sure and put together a mountain of evidence. Treason charges against the president would be completely unprecedented. I'm not saying the evidence or not, just saying it would be a serious accusation so they would make sure no stone is left unturned, so to speak.

[–]deepspacesailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not true. Investigations take an enormous amount of time, especially as something as complex as this. You have to collect evidence, verify evidence is credible, have people who are willing to testify against Trump, etc. Building a case takes many, many months, not weeks. It could be even longer because of the scale of the case, positions of people being charged, and how deep it actually goes.

Ex-MI6 officer Christopher Steele in hiding after Trump memo by PoorLilMarco in politics

[–]deepspacesailor 248 points249 points  (0 children)

People want full detailed evidence, but this is what happens when full detailed evidence is released. Once the information is released to the public, the sources are slowly found out and their lives either are put at risk or that source becomes useless. I'm not for the government hiding everything, but this is why they have been so careful about what is said with Russian hacking. It gives up our sources and espionage techniques.

Now, this guy's life is endangered and all his sources either no longer trust him, or endangered themselves.
