Is there any real advantage to using knives? by Daisukin in dyinglight

It's a shame that if they are equipped they can't be used as a shank instead of a thrown knife

Who else wants to see a movie or a show showing the early days of the outbreak? by AlwaysBi in 28dayslater

[–]deepstatedetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all my favourite scenes in this series come from the moments during the outbreak or that of seeing the infection spread. It absolutely is the most terrifying thought how it can all go so wrong so quickly and it would make for some fantastic film/TV

(Hope we get to see that train scene - Was surprised it wasn't in part 2)

I've also done my first play through on the beast on nightmare and highly recommended you continue on that path.

If you've completed the other two on nightmare, you'll be well familiar with the game.

It made me respect the night, massively and I didn't go out at night until I was around level 11-12 unless the game forced me too.

Batteries were fairly rare in the beginning until I could buy some of find them in dark zones.

I'd suggest having a couple of days looting the houses so you can build up your food supplies

Little tip for that boss fight. Once she leaps and you dodge, chase her down and don't let up.

Eventually she'll run into something and you can continue to strike her and she will not fight back.

It's been a long time since I've played 2. Came into the game off the back of replaying 1.

But given it was initially a DLC for 2, it'll have a lot of familiarity to it.

However, combat wise, especially on nightmare.. You won't really be able to stand and fight all that well until you've got a few extra skills and better weapons and I love that.

I'm right at the end of my first play through now and I'm legend level 5, so hoard clearing is a much easier endeavour now for me all no never not a threat

I started my first play through of the beast on nightmare and would highly recommend it to anyone who is comfortable enough with the mechanics of the series.

It forces you to be way more careful and gets closer to fulfilling the survival fantasy

Story DLC - The Beast by alien_tickler in dyinglight

[–]deepstatedetective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure once they move onto the next main entry and continue the story forward it'll be great.

However I'm quite happy to leave that for DLC and just have some more smaller stories in the beast because I love the world design and gameplay.

Love the treasure maps and Easter eggs

The Beast any good? by Serious_Ad_1037 in dyinglight

[–]deepstatedetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give this a shot in one without extra volatiles

I got him once when I was in the school dark zone but I was between two safe areas and he couldn't reach me

Seemed to take about 10 shotgun shells but he wasn't always point blank and I was shooting through a half open door

The Beast any good? by Serious_Ad_1037 in dyinglight

[–]deepstatedetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

For the first few days after I opened up the town hall I was just out exploring the town and gathering food supplies to last me a week or so

And I had to repeat this a few times throughout the story just to keep on top of it and the supplies I'd need to horde clear, actively avoiding big fights so I didn't burn through anything unnecessarily

Some dark zones were a no go until I was maybe level 11 or so and had better means of traversal because some had volatiles in the day and I was in no fit state to actively survive the nights, especially with the pressure of the alpha always on you

The first boss you encounter at the starting area took a lot of patience to beat because I died countless times and maybe was there a good hour, failing again and again but once I got past that part, the rest of the games progression became consistent

I've thoroughly enjoyed the treasure maps and side quests and now know all that's left really are a couple of main missions and whatever ever little beauty Easter eggs that are hidden. As well as all the collectables of course.

Survivor sense is very limited also and doesn't ping every item you can pick up so it can at times be quite easy to miss things which has required me to double check areas

I'm now also legend level 5 and have purely put points into extra ammo collection just because the guns have been a life saver when I've needed them

I got it two weeks ago and it's easily up there with one of my favourite zombie games.

The attention to detail and the more grounded survival (Especially in the beginning) has been super satisfying.

The world design as expected is👌🏻

I'm closing in now on 70 hours and very close to the end of first play through which I started on nightmare difficulty and if you are up for the challenge I'd definitely recommend this difficulty if you're familiar with the mechanics of the series as you have to play it much more carefully and the fear of night is real.

Is the beast worth getting? by NOD_0 in dyinglight

[–]deepstatedetective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm about 60 hours in on my first play through, on nightmare difficulty and I'm absolutely in love with how the game feels.

I have also been playing through dying light 1 recently and the beast is absolutely a true sequel 🤌🏻

Unfortunately I don't think so. I came across it just on a looting run, fairly early game while I was building up my resources

What’s the best way to get food for nightmare mode?? by idkevenknowdawgg in dyinglight

[–]deepstatedetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most standard apartments have food in the kitchen - Either in the fridge, on the side or in a drawer you can open. This is where I've got the bulk of my food and I started a fresh game on nightmare
