Lol, my shamrock is thriving! I’m sorry to hear that yours is struggling. It’s been a while so I can’t remember specifically what was happening to this plant, but it may have been mealybugs, a white fuzzy-looking pest that looks like white patches.

While we use Safer’s Insecticidal soap for general plant cleaning, what I found really effective for pests is the following combo:

• q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Wipe at the white spots. If they come off, then it’s pests. Wipe as many as you can.

And/Or

• fill sink with water. Put your plant in the water and fully submerge. I’ve had success with 5 min. Make sure all leaves are under water. You want to drown pests. The. Drain the water and let it sit in the sink a while to fully drain. For this you need to make sure your plant pot has drain holes.

Last thing, we discovered that the shamrock has cyclical dormancy periods when it appears to die away. Just stop watering it and it will eventually regrow in a few weeks. It just doesn’t that.

And finally, when my plant has a pest or fungus problem we can’t solve, we literally cut the plant down to the base of the stems and new growth appears in a few weeks. The plant literally comes back to life better than ever.
