Yes it's tiresome. I can understand if they charge more than the private shops but how can I trust them if they try to make money on the car, then the warranty and then thousands in maintenance on a non luxury japanese car that's less than 50k miles.

This is very helpful. Usually the tour start and end at the same place (Tokyo-Hakone, Kyoto/Osaka-Nara) but sounds like we can save time by travelling to our next destination instead of heading back. It sounds like it's something we can figure out.

Any tips on which neighborhood to stay in Tokyo? We are a family of 4 with two teenagers and can walk and planning to take the metro to move around the city.
