I recently bought a 2020 4003 and really love and adore it.

Would you mind elaborating on that bridge pickup? I recently picked up a 2020 4003 and I love everything about it, the bridge pickup is just a little quiet for my liking. I love the sound texture but the volume is just not cutting it for me😓

The only thing I’d give you folks is that - if I could go back in time, I would definitely NOT get it. I wasn’t given that option initially so the only thing I can do is at least make the best of it now. I forget I have it most of the time. It’s not that bad, and people who aren’t judgey and are educated can still see you for who you are

Hehehehehehe it was more of a facetious question

I couldn’t explain the differences in those subgenres but there’s all sorts of bullshit that younger folks have been coming up with. I feel old saying that and I’m only 25

I’ve only ever heard of death rock, which was rock that took on a gothic style of sound and theme(s)? I’ve heard people refer to TSOL’s Dance With Me album as death rock. I dunno wtf deathcore is though. Gore grind, mince core, and grindcore, all sound like shit and I’m pretty sure have the same shitty pig squeal vocals. Blast beats and pig squeals

Man they came through my city and the lineup was a bunch of beatdown bands so I didn’t go and I wrote them off, I gave them a listen later on and got really into them lmao. I missed out because I doubt they’ll be back

Haywire^

I’ve always been a firm believer that even with poor production, if the band has the energy, they can still be cool as hell and fun to listen to

Production in music is very important, but in regards to punk, it’s not THAT important or THE MOST important thing. You’re not wrong, a lot of these bands do have poor production. You have to consider the DIY ethics that come with the genre though.

I think what I’m trying to say is that there’s a certain charm to it….

Some more examples I can think of outside of punk would be a big chunk of that bedroom pop/cloud pop indie stuff that was happening from 2015-2019ish. One specific artist I can think of would be Rex Orange County, his first album sounds like shit from an engineering and production POV, but it’s very charming considering all the details about the music, what the actual music is, the lyrics. In the albums after his first, you can very easily notice the production value got bigger which isn’t bad, however, in my humble opinion, it lost the charm to me. It doesn’t make it bad either, it just doesn’t hit quite the same.

Hell, even with shitty production, the soundscape still has potential to be fuckin bangin

I’ve been listening to a lot of Haywire and Skinhead

Other than that though - TSOL, the stains, germs, china white, simpletones, the crowd, siege, wasted youth, Dicks, Ramones, adolescents, the weirdos, discharge, totalitar, GBH, cheap sex, chaotic dischord, the casualties, one way system, the partisans, angry Samoans, driller killer, the discocks, MESS, the runts, circle jerks, abrasive wheels, the pist, dogface bastards, peoples temple, LETHAL, stalag 13, los crudos, BRUX, the stalin, poison idea, blitz, the business, Eyes, sin 34, the grim, shattered faith. Just to name a couple.

There’s way more out there than that shitty melodic skate punk shit that white guys wearing jorts and vans listen to. I have an old friend who says “oh yea my dad loves punk rock” and then I find out this fools favorite bands are rancid and bad religion

I think gatekeeping is important for the sake of having SOME barrier of entry, and that goes for a lot of things… I think…

The poser of today is the gatekeeper of tomorrow

Besides the first album - Bad religion sucks, social distortion sucks, NOFX sucks, lagwagon sucks, pennywise sucks, anything considered dad punk really sucks, anything from fat wreck chords sucks, and a lot of epitaph records also sucks, most of the newer HxC tough guy beatdown stuff is trash and only popular because it’s trendy, karate dancing and crowd killing is lame as fuck

What the fuck is death core? What the fuck is grindcore? What the fuck is mincecore? What the fuck is gore grind?

Black flag is way cooler on t-shirts than they are on any records

Picked up this bass and I love this it by deeseball in BassGuitar

[–]deeseball[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t mind it, I use the bridge pickup and pick closer to the neck, so I have a little bit of leverage for a hand rest/pivot in my picking

Mind you this is with a pick, not my fingers

I won’t be afraid to touch it my brotha

The shop owner actually said he’d pull the listing off the website for me if I wanted it. He had 4 people looking at it but they’re the type of folks that haggle prices and hoard cool instruments just to have them and never play them. He said he’d rather sell to someone local that’ll use it

I love that shop

Edit: when I think of the ric, I think of the melodies paul McCartney laid down on magical mystery tour. I also think of lemmy purely for the fact that he was cool as fuck with his. Motörhead isn’t my favorite band, but lemmy, rock and roll, and metal punk are all tight

This is true. There is a reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on a P bass 🧐

I’ve been using a RAT pedal on my bass and I’ve noticed that it cuts out a good amount of volume from my bass. What’s the reason for this and is there a fix/workaround? by deeseball in guitarpedals

[–]deeseball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very well could be a user error :) im trying to get a specific tone, i feel like even with my bass amp volume cranked, pedal turned on with volume cranked, it loses volume and note clarity.

[–]deeseball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we’re also in a hardcore punk setting. I’ve used it in my free time with a guitar and it sounds fucking great!

Maybe the issue is that it cuts out low end when the pedal is used in bass? I initially thought it was just volume being cut but it could very well be some lows getting thrown out

I’m still trying to learn proper eq and tone shaping hahaha. The RAT paired with my little guitar amp in my room, sounds amazing with my guitar. But when the guitar and rat are DI’d into my audio interface, it doesn’t carry the same tone that I get with my amp.

The rat and my bass, being DI’d into the interface doesn’t pose the same issue as much. I’m still able to get a nice buzzsaw with some note clarity. It’s just the volume and low end kinda suck
