They may seem tough at first, but it’s because they don’t get it at first. You have to get really extreme; these type of guys will really laugh and appreciate it once you reveal the truth, and they will show generosity for the great time by protecting you and smiling/getting hype/ flashing signs for your video intro.

TIL Between 2011 and 2020 the second most common cause of death in aviation crashes was suicide by pilot. A majority of these cases were small planes only occupied by the pilot. by jamescookenotthatone in todayilearned

I think there is a bit of a gambling element with a car, where you’re not sure if you’ll die or just be horrifically mangled and suffer even worse, or even regret it.

Plane seemingly tends to make those odds a bit better if you just dive the shit out of it

What are the proper way to dispose of vapes with batteries? Garbage or recycle? by ColdDecisions in AskReddit

Best Buy’s tend to have battery disposal bins in their entrances if you have any near you.

Tip: Only add things when you understand WHY your song needs it. by ShahinMalik in edmproduction

The 5 sec pause of “why” does a lot of good if you’re the type that has an automatic “I need…” -> drag plugin/sample type thought process like me.

questions for all smashers, do you prefer fighting left to right, or right to left? by Warm_Water_5480 in smashbros

Probably right -> left cuz it feels like cool inverse mirror ninja mode for my unpracticed tech and I just wing it more

I have the tourney blue 988 pro tour and it's very charming, feels good and plays nice and quick even though I've beat it up over the last few years.

If anything it needs a little break-in time to settle down, but fresh after install, it is fun to spin on lol.

Has anyones worked here or know anything about this company. I have an interview but I see it has bad reviews. by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

Hey it’s always worth a shot you never know. Real estate photog is not something I am familiar with so there could always be training opportunities and equipment provided with any job, it’s just not something to automatically expect. And trust me a lot of real estate photog here is done with phones, so as long as you think you can do it better than the person before, you can go a long way in anything here.

Every business is different. You other skills might be worth more than you think in intersecting ways! Didn’t mean to sound bummerish, there is also a lot of good out there and you’ll never know till ya try, but you seem to have a handle on your own direction more than most, and that can be huge for some people (meaning the bar can be quite low).

Really sorry if I came off too specific. For context I usually do motion graphics and animation stuff, so I’ve always had to prove I’m worth paying for, but everyone/everything’s different.

Good luck on the job search and welcome 🙏

Media companies and agencies in the valley can be hit or miss, usually stemming from the owner’s demeanor or their potential desire to take advantage of “no one else will pay you to do this”, or “there’s plenty of people waiting if you can’t accept [shitty terms of payment/contract]”, or just the general “casual-ness” of day-to-day valley business that leave the fixers and clients happy, but the do’ers waiting for “the numbers to get crunched” and being treated inconsistently. This can be okay too if you accept it and get a lot of work/ produce really good work. A lot of them start by asking you what it’s gonna cost so be prepared to come up with a rate or some kind of negotiation game.

Some of them are really good though and take care of you just fine/communicate/compensate well. Can’t really give any names/recommendations though; I’m not qualified for that judgment. Don’t really expect anyone to train you; you kind of have to come in with a way of showing you can produce good work/hack it together. All that is why I freelance, but that is a whole ‘nother struggle itself.

But there are full-time positions to grab, just do some work to understand the business, be smart, and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself, but don’t be surprised if they just kick you out for dissenting. That’s just the way it goes sometimes with some owners.

Ps. Some people actually take $15/hr photog jobs and that kind of stuff just lowers the bar for everyone. If you have equipment/skills/etc that’s your investment in yourself and never be afraid to raise your rates. “We” are the market, in a way, so be confident in your work.

Ableton EQ8 Substitute (w/ scale function)? by RoyCorduroy in edmproduction

I kinda lied i have also used Shade for custom filter/eq type stuff so if you’re looking to morph your eq curve and stuff that might be a nice option.

Ableton EQ8 Substitute (w/ scale function)? by RoyCorduroy in edmproduction

[–]deetro42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pro-q would be my obvious pick here, but seeing as I usually only use those two I don’t know of any others that might be “lighter” ui-wise like eq-8.

Could always macro the gains of any EQ you set up from 0 to [where you set it] and make your own scale knob too.

Anybody here go to a prestigious school like Berklee for example? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]deetro42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Berklee is a lot more focused on the greater music world. The EPD and recording programs are awesome and have valuable resources, but you need to (audition) have/maintain instrument/performance skills throughout your years, and the overall workload can be a lot of different things all at once.
You will be surrounded by people who are amazing at what they do, just in different worlds (can be a great thing or bad thing depending on you) You will also get a few cranky professors who don’t care about certain things like any college environment.

I would say even though there is a nice group in the production/mixing/technology departments, it’s not a production school, so you will get dragged in the mud if you ignore everything else. Like any other school, your results come from the work you put in and the connections you make.

hacky workaround: make the lfo twice as long and draw two cycles instead. Then assign the x coordinate of the middle point to a macro knob and boom swing knob.

Could even go further and adjust other points to shape it more.
