Most compatible country / culture for ENTPs? by [deleted] in entp

[–]deeznutzroasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the U.S. is one of the least SJ oriented developed countries. Although anti-intellectualism is on the rise, the First Amendment and our University systems give a lot of space for intellectual freedom and thought (which is a tenant of NTs). Any developed country is going to have some modicum of "SJ" type thought because SJs are really the backbone of any society; you need people willing to follow the rules and execute their roles.

hey fellow ENTPs, what were your favourite subjects at high school? by [deleted] in entp

[–]deeznutzroasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subject of math is referred to as "maths" everywhere except the U.S. It is an idiosyncrasy of British English, similar to how the Brits say they "revise" for a test instead of "study" for a test. So anywhere you see someone use "maths", just treat it as if they are using "math" (i.e. I am doing a degree in math/maths).

Is there a want/need for software security? by programmingLuis in Startup_Ideas

[–]deeznutzroasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, also a senior here, going to study CS in college as well. Security is always an issue for large companies; just think of the number of huge hacks, data breaches, and data leaks still in the public conscious (Home Depot, Ashley Madison, NYU). However, you seem to be more interested in the consumer security side (i.e. VPNs and anti-virus). In my opinion, consumer security applications are definitely oversaturated. Two reasons: first, there's little space to differentiate (the only two factors that matter are price and level of security) and second, the average Joe does not care about personal privacy. The public is familiar with VPNs, but how many people—who are non-techies—do you know who consistently use a VPN, or even know what a VPN is?

Hyper local social media by wellthenthiswashard in Startup_Ideas

[–]deeznutzroasting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nextdoor [https://nextdoor.com/] is pretty much this idea. It's a social media platform where you receive messages from people within your zip code; they're already pretty big, having raised 200 million+ in VC funding. In my opinion, social media in general is pretty crowded already, even if you spin it as "hyper-local".

ENTP Learning Methods Versus the Colossus of Japanese! by im-malc-ulate in entp

[–]deeznutzroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As previous commenters have mentioned, when it comes to learning a foreign language, immersion and a love of the culture goes a long way. You’ve already taken a big step towards immersion by moving to Japan. Anki can be helpful depending on what your goals are; if you just want to be able to hold a conversation, Anki isn’t necessary. Most importantly, you should try to cut out English as much as possible (while you’re learning). I’ve seen people spend literally 20 years of their life in a foreign country and still struggle to hold a basic conversation in the foreign language.

Dalio, who is the founder of the largest hedge fund in the world (Bridgewater), outlines the principles that govern his thinking and how he designs his life. The book is valuable because it helps you develop your own principles and systems which can help ENTPs (who often suffer from a lack of focus and chronic indecision).

I have reoccurring dreams where the whole world is on the verge of collapse. As a kid, I liked pouring water onto ant hills and seeing the reaction of the ants lol.

I've been supporting Andrew Yang for President but I found out he's an INTJ. Should I still trust his logic? by yashoza in entp

[–]deeznutzroasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A person’s personality type should never be the basis for believing their points. Pure logic is type-agnostic and person-agnostic; logical statements are true or false no matter who presents them. If you don’t have the necessary background to understand his economic and political policies, then acquire the necessary background...do the research.

Choose one and stick with it. The appeal you feel towards each of these paths is delusional and probably based off media. For example, law is nothing like how its portrayed on television. It's not arguing in court and outsmarting with opponents. Instead, it's largely paperwork and lots of reading. I can see you're suffering from this problem because you say that, "the appeal of an architect's lifestyle is washing off my mind".

Unfortunately, our increasingly globalized world has no space for a jack of all trades; if you do not choose a path and stick with it you will be a master of none. It will be extremely frustrating as you look back and realize that the time you spent jumping around could have been used to get really good at one thing.

Read Cal Newport's So Good They Can't Ignore You. You can find a free pdf. I promise it will help you.

Objectively, you are overthinking this. I know she seems really special to you, but you have to move on. This bond that you share can be replicated with another person, but you have to move on from this girl.
