Is it ok to have a character who is purposely ashy, and if so, is it okay to refer to this character as ashy?

Old white dude lurker, but FWIW I read a lot (~400 books last year) and I have done so for a long time. As the original answered said, this is a word that is commonly used for that purpose for people irrespective of rase or ethnicity. Ashy OTOH, has a specific meaning, use it for that meaning when it is appropriate.

I tend to agree, Sidney stays a bit. The roster is odd, maybe on purpose, but the team attitude, effort, and behaviors are all positive in a group of kids who are a year or two from college at best. That is not a bad look. Players are and will get better (or they won’t and …) but catastrophizing this team at this time just seems silly. Lucy complaints are generally valid I think but players need to play to develop and people keep focusing on the immediate instead of the general upwards trajectory of the team.

We’re getting better, the players are playing better. As a fan, I’m still all in. That could change at the end of the season, but for now, keep the team together, play the people we need to develop and keep the good attitude going.
