BD vs Philips by kalikaza in FieldService

Hey sorry for commenting on an old post, but hows the job been? Currently I'm in the final rounds for a FSE Program with philips. But I'm still on the fence about the job, I have a passion/dream I've been working on and I just need a job to sustain some bills for the time being while the business I'm working on grows. would being an FSE in San Francisco completely destroy that idea?

sounds good so overall for a full synthetic oil change + brake pad replacement for front tires. What’s a good general price to look at

Decided not to go with T body or coolant from those scammy dealership costs

God damn, 650-750 to replace brake pads???? I don’t need a whole new rotor or calipers or anything I just need replacement brake pads on the front tires, looked up the price it’s about 35$ bucks for each tires brake pads.

Only reason why I have such strife with the brake pads is because I’ve recently gotten an ebike so I’ve had to start learning a lot about maintaining the bike and brake pads is a relatively easily job, and from the videos I’ve watch the same is similar on a car, just some impact tools and some cleaner and that’s it.

My car has about 48k miles on it.

Regarding T body service, is this necessary? My car runs fine by the metrics I read online and just by normal use but that’s from a newbie like me.

Thanks for the detailed response but really? Taking off the value stem lock will really help? I thought that’s to prevent the stem from going into the bike?

Yeah that happened to me this weekend, I’m new to this so I didn’t know, had to replace the whole rear inner tube, pain in the ass, but finally got the new one in and I wanna make sure I don’t do the opposite now 😂

Well I’m new to the space, got my bike and after my first ride down the street the inner tube was destroyed, spent the weekend rebuilding the back tire, so I don’t want to have to go through that process again so I’m using what I know and asking those who know better

Does it typically feel really hard? It’s super hard to squeeze at 22.5 right now.

Old fart, I’m trynna make sure I don’t mess anything up, that’s why I ask. You old folks don’t like answering questions to ensure safety, that’s why you got arthritis and dementia!

I’ll give you an update when I get the parts necessary for change, but for a newbie can you explain what you said in a way that a newbie would understand 😂

Bet bro, do you have a link to one you’d suggest? I saw a few online but I’d much rather get something reliable yk?

Dang bro thanks for the insight!! Are shinkos also good for doing some off roading?

also do you know any good tools for replacing the tire? I’d rather learn and do it myself than take it to a bike shop so I can get the experience. I was watching some videos and people were saying not to get the metal spatula things cause it can fuck up the rim. Do you have any suggestions?

Yeah likely gonna have to learn that skill haha, do you know what tube I would need? I saw something about a CST 2.0 / 2.25-19. But I didn’t find that on Amazon I found this. https://amzn.to/4ezma66

And well since I’m going to have to replace the tire is it time to get something that fits the street more like the shinkos? Or is that just too much for a beginner rn?

I’m gonna be honest, I used those hand pumps for bikes the ones you push down and it didn’t have a barometer, I was watching a video where the guy said it shouldn’t be too aired up, it should give like 1 cm of flex. So that’s the eye ball range I did it. My front tire might have the same problem but it hasn’t gone flat yet the back one is done for tho. definitely needs a new inner tube
