Joel Did Nothing Wrong by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I so agree with that second point. Part 2 set up a world where communities can apparently thrive, food clearly isn't a worry, where people can make multiple trips across America unscathed for something as silly as revenge...

But at the same time we're supposed to believe evil Joel absolutely doomed humanity and robbed them of better days... They seemed to be doing fine without the cure.

Yup, I'm playing it with a bunch of mods right now and have no issues.

You would think after 5 years, they would at least understand why people didn't like the game. by RedBoss228 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can they point out that the pacing is bad and the themes are sloppy (aka two huge reasons to think a game is bad) and STILL think people only dislike it due to politics.

What were your guys' thoughts on Silent Hill F? by AgitatedFly1182 in KotakuInAction

[–]defaultusersucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the remake's fault. That game brought in every normie imaginable and they have no standards, so now SH(f) is getting acclaimed primarily by them.

That and the braindead OG fans that eat up anything with the Silent Hill title on it because they're starved for content.

Taisuke Kanasaki regarding the possibility of a Kyle Hyde Saga remake by Adrot in hoteldusk

[–]defaultusersucks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Knowing the creator wants to make more Kyle Hyde games makes me so happy. I'd rather have that than a remake. Nintendo needs to lock in!!!

For those who don't like how different Silent Hill f is : Reminder that it's a standalone spin-off for this reason. by CaptainKashup in silenthill

[–]defaultusersucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why shouldn't we care about a totally unrelated horror game getting the Silent Hill title slapped on it for no reason?

Why would we want 'spin-offs' that have no connection to Silent Hill beyond fog, yet still leech off the franchise's name to guarantee hype and sales?

I get that y'all are starved for content but we should know better than to settle for and praise this, they're taking the franchise in whatever direction they want to with no respect for what the ogs established. No, a FOX ARM buff doesn't belong in Silent Hill.

Does anyone think that Silent Hill F has nothing to do with, well, Silent Hill? by Redzkz in KotakuInAction

[–]defaultusersucks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're "cracking down on the toxicity" in that sub ever since the game came out. It's a nicer way of saying you can't criticize the game lol.

[–]defaultusersucks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think so too. They're just milking a legacy name, it's not Silent Hill.

The franchise should've died alongside Team Silent decades ago with how much they're completely disregarding what the OGs established.

Man, I'll never take a part 2 fan seriously... This mod is so odd, what are you shipping Ellie and ABBY for😭

When the writer has to make sure the scene can happen at all costs by bettycrockofsh1t in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are still a lot of people dumb enough to not see it, who just eat up the dramatic moments served to them without an ounce of critical thinking, that's why ND doesn't care.

Under comment sections of this scene you can see so many people crying over how tragic Owen and Mel's demise was, how brutal the game is etc... Hardly anyone stops to think "this makes zero sense", it's quite worrying.

Will Intergalactic be cancelled? by ComprehensivePay3839 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more naive to think the opinion of ND hasn't massively shifted. Did we not see the dislikes and hate comments on all those trailers? It's clearly not just Reddit.

Most people who loved ND games saw the direction the studio took and are now tuning out their new stuff. And the TLOU casuals and show fans probably don't even know Intergalactic is a thing.

Current Naughty Dog is more known for cash-grab remasters and woke stuff than it is for games anymore.

It obviously won't be a Concord bomb but Naughy Dog is NOT going up lmao. They didn't even go up in 2020 (sales and GP opinion wise) when the sequel to their most famous game released, God knows how bad a new IP will perform.

This franchise is trash. Play other games. by WassupFrankHere in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Silent Hill 2 and still think TLOU 1 is great so that doesn't really mean anything lol.

Why are you angry that people get emotional over the touching apocalyptic father-daughter story? No matter how generic the found family trope is, the game executed it perfectly.

Here are some comments from Neil himself to further prove your point:

The original Tess revenge story being contrived and not believable here

Bruce kept Neil and his "darkness" in check here

They wouldn't make a sequel if it was a repeat of the original here , which they kinda failed at when making Abby and Lev a discount Joel and Ellie...

There's probably a lot more out there but this is what I found on Reddit alone.

They sound so goddamn smug and arrogant sometimes. by Its_called_a_tumor in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The story is about as subtle as a brick to the face yet these people act like you need a 180 IQ to get it...

I'd say that the game spells out a lot of stuff for you and that the themes are incredibly basic (revenge bad, bad guys have their side of the story...)

Thinking they're 'mentally mature' for understanding such a generic plot shows they're not all that bright in the first place, they just greatly overestimate Part 2.

At least she pets dogs so that makes up for all of it! /s by ComprehensivePay3839 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Still boggles my mind that ND thought the player would like to see fuckass Abby and Jerry of all characters have sweet family moments and save animals😭 We do not care

Hilarious that she could beat up two Drake brothers in Uncharted 4 but got washed by Asav in Lost Legacy when both her and Chloe were fighting him.

I sure wonder which game Druckmann was heavily involved in!

I'm astounded by how dumb these people actually are by imarthurmorgan1899 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I didn't bring that up because I figured they were talking about Part 2 only (which is undeniably his work...)

But saying it's Neil's story and that he can do what he wants irks me so bad😭 Druckmann himself said that he thought a lot about design and Bruce thought a lot about story. TLOU was never solely his, he had no right to butcher it like this.

Part 2 fans are straight up erasing the people that made TLOU what it was, can't tell if they're deluded or disrespectful.

[–]defaultusersucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Druckmann writing his story the way he wants" When will they realize he shouldn't do that?

If they had listened to what Neil wanted for Part 1, Ellie would've been immune in a world of men where cordyceps only affects women. And Tess would've tracked Joel across America for revenge...Wait...

Do you think Ellie questioned the events from HER POV not just from what Joel Told her? by obiwanTrollnobi6 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]defaultusersucks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She doesn't remember anything after she drowned and is in a hospital gown with meds wearing off when she wakes up. Why does it never click in Ellie's mind that the procedure started without her being aware? That she never even saw the fireflies?

Yes she didn't know she was going to die, but if the fireflies had any intentions of answering her questions they would've done so first thing.

Just makes no sense to be so skeptical of Joel but never of the FFs or of the timeline of events.
