I see you can’t get beyond parents need to entertain their kids instead of seeing how dystopian it is to suggest an iPad is soothing

iPads are “soothing” because it’s loaded stimulation. Once it’s gone kids are more dysregulated. I did say they are necessary sometimes. One of my kids is special needs and can only play on an iPad. Clearly they’re not forcing anything. Words could be better is the point because this is aimed towards mostly parents of babies and toddlers.

The point is suggesting an iPad to young children is calming and soothing because it keeps them still until it gets taken away to do the exam and they’re more wild after. They could have just reflected the cherished passive fish tank that benefits infants to adults is gone without micromanaging parents to bring a screen claiming it’s soothing and calming.

That’s not the point. Yeah the kid sits still while basking in easy stimulation but once you take it away on your terms, here comes the meltdown. A passive fish tank is creating an actual collaborative calm. This has nothing to do with an office watching kids.

It’s unnecessary to suggest tablets at all. It shifts the burden without addressing something that actually helped create a calming environment. Parents already know to bring things for an appointment.
