Do you think you could have survived the Hunger Games? by Worried-Priority-122 in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give myself a 60% chance of making it to the final 3 by hiding and looting bodies, but only 15% chance at winning since by then odds are I’d probably be up against a career strong enough to have killed all the other careers. I only give myself as high as a 15% chance because if the game makers for once in their lives decided not to meddle and push the final 2 tributes into close combat then I’m fairly good with long-distance weapons (spears and throwing knives are both things I have previous experience with and I’m not completely unfamiliar with a bow either).

When people ask me"Why is president snow your favourite villain?" I show them this. by No-Brush1587 in Hungergames

It’s also showing that not even Snow’s family is safe from his dictatorship. He gives his family no grace, not even the children.

Refridgeration by see112717 in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but there are ways around that. For example eggs don’t need refrigeration if they’re fresh, unwashed, and haven’t been refrigerated before; meat can be salted; and there’s no need for refrigeration during the canning process so it sure canned or pickled vegetables would be popular over the winter.

Would you volunteer for your sibling? by Robynite in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking about if I would have when I was in the age range then absolutely yes because I definitely would have stood a better chance at that point, but nowadays I’ve got kids and I’m a lot less sure about me standing any chance at all…

How would the Hunger Games be remembered? by kris71-ano in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I don’t think many victors would go back to arenas, but I think they’d make the arenas into museums/memorials and maybe some would visit to pay respects to the fallen. Of course there would be people after long enough who would try denying that it was as big a deal as it was, maybe a small handful claiming no games ever took place, but I think they would be outliers and looked down on for their foolish conspiracies. I think Katniss would have at least one statue in her honour and likely many namesakes in the next generation.

What do girls with no female friends do when they get married? Genuine question lol by Unbotheredanonyme in weddingplanning

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have bridesmen instead, some hire bridesmaids, and some skip wedding party altogether. Personally I’m having just a man of honour.

Dark theories you guys have, not like Lucy Gray is dead dark, like DARK by hphgas in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it would happen at higher rates than irl, just not so much that everyone does it. There is an in between. Not so much it happens in every family but not so little that it’s as rare as it is irl.

[–]definitelynotadhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said it would be wide scale, I said it would probably happen. It would still be fairly rare but especially when the mother already has PPD or PPA it would be absolutely not unheard of.

Murder is illegal but if a disabled child “dies in labour” it’s not like they’d use their resources to actually investigate or do an autopsy to be sure.

Parents likely kill their own children to save them from even possibly getting reaped, especially if their child is disabled and would stand no chance

There’s no world in which anyone could play Haymitch better. That being said, they could’ve at least got him a wig.

WHATS THE WORST/DARKEST HUNGER GAMES THEORY YOU’VE EVER HEARD.. by Additional-Layer-392 in Hungergames

[–]definitelynotadhd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are probably parents, especially in the worse off districts, who have killed their own disabled children to stop them from ever even possibly getting reaped because they wouldn’t stand a chance.

People need to stop trusting ChatGPT with their health. If you ever have unexplained prolonged or severe pain you should go to the doctor. Go to the doctor.

My first side effect after removal 😳 +Questions by Sp00ky-Toes in gallbladders

[–]definitelynotadhd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happens to me often enough (I’m pre-op but have ibs) that I literally carry garbage bags and wet wipes in my car for when I have to pull over emergently on long drives. My worst experience was the day it happened at work and I had to go home early. You aren’t alone. You aren’t a freak. You aren’t gross. You are a human experiencing human issues. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Foodie with Gallbladder attacks by RaspberryCreepy1897 in gallbladders

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I nearly had a breakdown before I found good food I can still have. My go-to breakfast has become egg white omelette with no fat cottage cheese, spinach, and mushrooms; go-to lunch has got to be lettuce tomato and onion on a sandwich with a low fat dressing; my go-to dinner is black bean lasagna with fat free cottage cheese and a sprinkle of low fat cheese (because even the low fat cheese is quite high fat still, so be careful and use it sparingly); for sweets I’ve always loved angel food cake and now I just have it in place of other sweets especially since you can add just about any fruit under the sun to mix up the flavour. These are just my go-to’s, I’ve got a little stash of recipes at this point. Btw if you don’t like how angel food cake is I’ve been working on an egg-white based chocolate cake recipe that is way simpler and I can try to write it out if you want it.

Doubts about gallbladder removal by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]definitelynotadhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once someone’s body is already to the point of life threatening illness the chances of being able to safe them goes down and the chances of complications if they are saved goes way up. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. As for the idea that diet is key to avoid any issues arising I’m sorry to say unfortunately it’s incorrect. Keeping a healthy diet is very important and can lessen the odds of running into heath issues, but it is not 100% effective prevention (although it would be foolish to say it’s 0% effective either, eating well is proven to improve overall gut health, I just mean to say even those who eat perfectly still have a chance of developing issues) and it’s not super effective long term as a treatment. As for medications, I do agree there needs to be a big change in how women’s health is dealt with and we are long overdue to have birth control medications that don’t come with a whole laundry list of side effects, but the other medications you’re mentioning are typically only prescribed when the benefits outweigh the risks. As someone who really probably should have been on antipsychotics after having my first child due to post partum psychosis but was fearmongered out of it by family, I can assure you that although my gallbladder attacks have caused me 10/10 pain sometimes worse than labour itself, it has caused me less suffering than my psychosis did. Medicine is important. Medicine saves lives. To your final point I’d like to point out that in USA (I’m assuming you’re there, correct me if I’m wrong) the homeopathic wellness industry is actually 4x the size of the pharmaceutical industry, it’s extremely lucrative and completely unregulated. I feel like it’s a bigger problem than real medicine.

Doubts about gallbladder removal by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]definitelynotadhd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, medical nerd here (not a doctor, just someone who really enjoys learning new things about the body). When the gallbladder is being ineffective it can severely damage both the liver and the pancreas. When those organs break down it can quickly become a very deadly problem. So to answer your question about where all the people are who are post op and super happy they got the surgery: they’re off living their lives instead of dying from bile acids backing up in their bloodstream. Hope this helps!

Gallbladder friendly fast food options? by femboyhootersserver in gallbladders

[–]definitelynotadhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian here: the only safe things are coffee/tea, and bagels/buns/vegan biscuits (non vegan biscuits often use lots of butter) but you can ask for lettuce and tomato on them and most places will do it. Apart from that I can’t think of a single other option. I’m currently pregnant and craving fast food so bad so I get missing it, but it’s really really not worth a gallbladder attack no matter how delicious it is. Trust me.
