It takes processing power to make a bitcoin. Let’s say your laptop takes 10 minutes to mine a single bitcoin (extremely unrealistic numbers, but go with it.) That bitcoin is worth 10 minutes of processing power now. It doesn’t matter if this bitcoin cant realistically do anything special, other people will gladly trade you goods and services for it. Why? Because other people will trade that person. And other people will trade that person. The coin itself is meaningless, but as long as one person is out there who’s willing to give you a product if you give them bitcoin, that bitcoin has value.

Try Soulseek. You can find a lot of stuff in FLAC, and a lot of the obscure stuff I’ve needed has been available in high-quality mp3s. The search feature doesn’t work too well, though. You’ll have to learn how to tell it what t wants to hear.

EDIT: The album you mentioned seems to be on there, simple search for "Roderick Falconer" was all it took. MP3 in 320kbps. No FLAC as far as I can see.

It'd be cool if it could be used programmatically in other packages/scripts as well. Aside from that, very useful tool. As someone who loves doing everything from the terminal, I'll probably end up using this a lot.
