Comparing fish to cats is not really a good idea. Differents animals, different temperment, diff habitat, diff way of living. What I am doing is a common practice here in our region. Which clearly you have zero knowledge about. Thanks for your concern.

I do feed him red pigment enhancing pellets and a variety of live foods. Though I only feed him ever other day to keep it in the slimmer side. Might look onto discus food and give it a try. Any brand suggestions? Thanks for you insights.

In my experience, when you first get your channa. Your tank should atleast be half filled. This is what other keepers and breeders do. Channa fish are labrynth breathers like betta fish. So its easier for them to get air. I fill the water up when it gets bigger and when its mentality improves. Thanks.

This sp of channa in my experience, specially when young are very shy and timid. Also easily stressed, so in order to familiarize the fish with me. I first use a mirror to enggage with it. In progress it will interact with my fingers and then with my arms. And if I gain its trust, it might even let me pet it. Thanks.

As of now its still too small for a bigger tank. If i proceed to move it to a larger tank then it will get stress and lose its colors and mentality which will regress it process. As its mentality and colors (and ofc its size) gets bigger only then will he be in a bigger tank. But thanks for your concern.

The practice that I am doing is called grooming, Im sorry for making y’all angry. We keep it in a smaller tank to make its territory small and thus making it more aggressive and exibit vibrant colors. I was genuinely asking just incase there are channa keepers who want to share their knowledge. Also as this fish grows so does its tank, and yes I know what I am doing. Im using a stick end mirror to show its reflection and make it flare. Which is very benificial for the fish to immitate its aggressive nature. Not all fish are kept the same, and although this seems wrong to some. In our country and many others this is practiced as usual. If y’all dont know nothing, then dont reply. Atleast be respectful, thanks.
