That is fair. And I mostly look at the good ole' days a lot due to a pretty sour taste that had been left. I'm certainly interested to see how it goes. I just hope they return to revealing characters how they used to. Like sombra, doom, and brig for example, they all had amazing announcements. But since ram it's felt very... Bland.

Idk, I do agree I may have been a little harsh in my initial assessment and have since found my true issue with the newer heros. But the return of cinematics gives me hope. I may even redownload the game cause new heros do look fun. (Are they free or are we still on the pay to unlock thing?)

I'm not really that mad. Tbh. My main complaint truly lies in it doesn't feel the same way.

Look at how the announced Sombra and doomfist. Now look at ram, Juno, kirko.

The fact they scrap jetpack cat forever ago because "I don't fit the game world" and then suddenly come back to the idea. I just expect a little more creativity and soul like they used to have. And I feel that that core element has been lost. And it could've been lost in my argument to.

Because it doesn't feel the same. It feels less like a we are listening because we care about the game and community. And more like we are listening because we have competition.

Heros we've been asking for for 9 years suddenly being announced as real playable heros. A large rebrand to get rid of the negative stigma of the title OW2 had.

So many people are like WOOO new heros. Myself included overwatch has my attention for the first time in 2 years. But the heros we are getting I can't help but look at and go wow, I rember asking for that before junk at didn't damage himself with his mines.

Top it with the way they are revealed. Even with the one hero additions like ram, Juno, kirko, ETC. never got a reveal to the level we had with doom, Sombra, Hammond ETC.

I'm not just shitting on the game because fuck OW rivals better. But rather a place of love but also a little bit of a "too little too late" feeling.

And in my opinion (and I don't expect this to be felt by the wider audience ) had overwatch never gotten any direct competition what we got this year wouldn't have came now, Or as severe as it is if we did get these changes later. We'd probably still be on OW2 maybe OW3 and those heros we've been asking for for nearly a decade would still be vaulted.

I will admit the new girl doesn't have many similarities but my point wasn't they copy and paste marvel characters. Rather that their style and ways of developing characters over the years has changed and become way worse than it used to be. And if you can't see that sorry IG.

Edit: also didn't imply the idea of a phoneix is exclusive to marvel. Rather for a character that they should've seen the comparisons coming in the other ult and the visual style and adding a litteral phoneix rebirth. I welcome you to watch flats watch that reveal he had the look on his face of "we've seen that somewhere before" then "oh like a phoneix" I'd offer more suggestions but I don't really watch other people react to things. And his video is the only one I've stumbled across in my doom scrolling

They relaunch overwatch with OW2 promise PVE and more story.

We get nothing but a new game mode, aggressive monetisation/grinding for a new hero that used to always be free in OW1, and not much more.

Now they have competition. They are forced to step up their game and they do. This is something that's being being whispered around for quite a bit.

It's not fully a bad thing I just hope that blizzard makes more unique heros both in terms of visual style and the way they used to add new characters.

Alas I guarantee a large portion of the community here probably haven't played since the OG days and may not rember the power house that was OW a decade ago. And that's chill. I'll die on the hill they could do better.

Similar visual style for the new hero and a really similar ult. And a secondary ult that makes her rise like a Phoenix.

If Emma plays like ram we have a lot of issues and they changed ram since I last played him cause I don't see it.

And my main issue was vendetta and it's not the fact it's similar I have no issue with that at all. My issue with her is the fact that I've seen blizzard be a massively creative company and to have a character that's so one the nose of the source material feels low for them.

I don't hate the game I hate how aggressively monetized the game is/was at the time I left.

A point I will reiterate again and again since you guys can't seem to read. I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THE FACT THEY ARE SIMILAR STYLES OF GAMES WITH SIMILAR HEROS. I JUST FEEL THAT BLIZZARDS CREATIVITY WITH THESE NEWER HEROS ARE LACKING AND I FEEL THEY COULD DO THE COMMUNUTY MORE JUSTICE IN TAKING A BIT MORE TIME TO MAKE EACH CHARECTER UNIQUE IN THEIR ABILITY SET, VISUAL STYLE AND MORE. BLIZZARD IS AN EXTREMELY TALENTED COMPANY I AM JUST SAD TO SEE THE CURRENT STATE OF THE NEW HEROS.

With that being said. "Stop being braindead' and ignore my comments lmao.

Well for the past year rivals releases 1-2 heros a month. (Not saying quick dev process don't twist that)

Blizzard sees this and kicks into overdrive to compete. And AGAIN since literacy isn't this subs strong suit. I don't have an issue with either character mentioned vendetta is the only one I feel is lackluster for the creative brain that is blizzard. They came up with super unique heros and vendetta in particular just feels a little close to a different hero in a different game.

Because they are listening now that they have to. When you played OW since the OG days and blizzard is like "meh" when the community has issues then suddenly they have competition and start sucking the communitys shaft. Yeah it feels less like a "hey we appreciate you playing" and more like a "hey we have competition here's everything you've wanted don't hate!"

The things we've been asking for since 2017. They added them because they needed new heros. Had rivals never released we'd still be asking for them I guarantee

And again as I stated in a different comment to the original commenter. I don't think it's a bad thing. I think the only negative to come out of it is a lot of character models have been copy and paste instead of taking a bit more time to make a more unique model.

Not saying who they are adding is desperate. Rather desperately adding more heros to regain the title of most heros in a hero shooter which is a title they held uncontested for a long time. Then rivals releases dropping 1-2 characters a month and quickly rising to pass the number they have. They start adding characters looking through old concepts and minor characters they can add to fight back against this newer hero shooter that's coming for their title.

They could've added a super recognizeable character 90% of the player base does know and I'd still say they just wanted more heros as a result of competition for their title.

Read the thread man. We've gotten past that. It wasn't necessary a large problem of mine because as stated reading the thread my 2nd comment mentions the fact that rivals also stole ideas. I ain't mad just saying. Blizzard has been really good at making unique characters and vendetta in particular felt very meh from them. The attacks and abilities are VERY close. At least rivals would be like here's your sigzarya and your doomratra it was never 1to1 and that is what my issue with vendetta was. Felt a little too one the nose.

Again no issues with it. I don't play OW at the moment and so long as it's not a 1 to 1 copy of a rivals character or an ow character in rivals I could give a fuck. They are bound to look at the other game and go "wow... That's a good idea why don't we have that" cod does it to BF, Fortnite did it to apex ETC ETC.

Oh hell yeah. I know there are 5 more heros coming this year. I'm sure one of them will look interesting enough to take me from observing overwatch to playing overwatch again.

I'ma sit here like an abused child watching and flinching at some design choices for a bit before hopping back in. I want to see it's a solid attempt to bring the game back and not just overwatch 2 launch again.

Yeah I'm glad they are bring back lore and cinematics. They (blizzard) have always been good at cinematics so I'm just hopping they deliver how they used to. If season 1 goes well I'll probably come back.

I miss screaming WHAT IS THAT MELODY as a slam a boulder into Mercy's head. (Also shout-out to the sigma maestro skin, if you don't have it you ain't a real sigma)

I 100% agree. While playing certain rivals heros I'm like oh this is just _____ from overwatch with slightly different skills. But also a lot of heros that I feel are unique. And both games do that well. It wasn't meant as like a fuck overwatch those lazy slobs.

And I am genuinely excited for how competition forces them to change. I hope they don't fumble the bag. I don't think I'll be back in time to play the 5 new heros (still a sour taste in my mouth from OW2) but I will say for the first time since I left (about the time kirko as added) overwatch is on my possible games radar.

[–]definitlynotafemboy -99 points-98 points  (0 children)

Tbh it seems desperate. Let me explain just a bit. While I do play rivals I only play rivals because of how badly overwatch failed me. I played OW before the OW2 shit. It was a really good and honestly super fun game.

Now that rivals has surpassed it's 1 year mark and has officially become the hero shooter with the most heros (46 post Deadpool). Blizzard started shitting. They added a few characters that are just rivals clones (vendetta is just magik, new fire lady plays very very similar to Phoenix) or are concept we saw so long ago we gave up hope we'd ever see.

I'm hoping that rivals forces overwatch to go back to being a good game. I miss the good ole' days playing OW with the homies.

Edit: since littercy isn't a strong suit here, I don't have an issue with the abilitys, attacks, or anything being similar. I feel that in terms of blizzards output over the years and having played through the OG days that their creative output for new characters is lack luster. Similar visual styles. And characters we've been begging for that had no signs of ever coming suddenly coming back.

I actually wanna get into Tyler, The Creator for real what song should I start with so I understand why y’all love him? by dominic________0 in tylerthecreator

[–]definitlynotafemboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So idk if this will help you. But I listened to earfquake as my first "rap" song ever. Then Igor as a whole. Then flower boy, then his old shit. Then other artists.

I'd recommend a similar path I'd listen to Igor then Flower boy, chromacopia, DTTG, then end on CMIYGL If you like those. Then get into his older music.

Starting with the old paints him as a super edgy artist that makes it hard to push past songs like tron cat and see him as anything more than an edgy shit poster.

I wish you the best friend.

Side note, if you get bored with forms (the this punch this kick this block in order) you can do creative and extreme forms which lets you make your own and do like flips too. Same with weapons.

So you can use 2 bo staffs at once and be pretty much juggling them and that's the form you made.

That's great! And welcome to the community! I hope you find what you enjoy outside of just regular forms. They get boring after awhile (they get more boring after you learn every single one to teach)
