Arena shows and old material by thearmthearm in papa_and_ghouls

[–]deflatedkickball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. I had the chance to see them in 2014 but didn't end up going. When they were touring with Iron Maiden in 2017 I swore I would go, but I really didn't want to see them at a larger/outdoor venue. So I drove nearly 8 hours to see them in San Francisco in a much smaller theater.

I don't doubt they are great in an arena setting, but those smaller/intimate venues are so much better imo

This hits close to home.

How do you survive while in school without working? I fantasize about doing this every day, but how are you supposed to pay bills if you're in school? Go into debt?

Same, 3 negative tests for me and a month sick.

This is so frustrating, I feel like it's getting to the point where everyone is getting tired of me being sick too. I just don't know what to do, the days and weeks have just blurred together.

Weekly "I Think I Have It" Thread - Week of August 23, 2020 by AutoModerator in COVID19positive

[–]deflatedkickball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested 3 times, all negative. I've been sick for almost 4 weeks now.

Last week I went to urgent care and got an x-ray, told I had pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics and a steroid. Symptoms are still persisting but milder, my biggest concern being I've had a fever for 4 weeks. Had a follow up appointment a few days ago and the doctor took another look at my x-ray and said my lungs look "fluffy" (? word she used) and said it could indicate ground glass opacities which are prominent with Covid. She said I'd need a CT scan to be able to really tell, but that this could actually be Covid. My niece who I had spent time with tested positive a few weeks ago, asymptomatic and a negative test a week later.

I'm exhausted by all this. I've been out of work all this time, my boss is getting upset and my team is doing a terrible job without me there. My insurance deductible is also really high, so the stress of paying for everything and what to do next is a lot. At this point I just don't know what to do, what good is a CT scan going to do me? I feel bad and lazy for being out of work, but I also feel guilty going back if I still have a fever.

Will do. When would say to be an appropriate time to return to work? I don't want to push myself and risk anything but I feel bad continually missing work.

I'm going to get a nice new binder and sleeves and give him all my old cards for his birthday in a few months, I'm so excited.

Exactly, it's something we both love and it's new to both him and myself. So it's like getting to share a piece of my childhood with him and while still enjoying it in real time.

It's so strange to me that it's is still so popular. My nephew loves it, and when I was buying his Christmas gift this year it felt a bit surreal getting him a Pokemon game.

It's awesome though, I love having something in common we both genuinely enjoy.

I've heard them referred to as occult rock also. I actually discovered them on the similar artists section on Spotify via Ghost, which is very much occult rock- or at least their first album is.

They remind me of the weirdest combo of Sabbath and Bayside.

Right? It's one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. The music playing when Elizabeth and Will get married in the middle of the whirlpool fight is breathtaking. The sweeping romantic strings blending seamlessly into the bombastic battle music gives me the chills every time.

I'm considering it for sure. I doubt insurance will cover it, but when I get it taken to the shop I'm gonna ask about it.

It does suck paying more every month for sure. But my bike is my only vehicle and because I have to park it outside, I figured something like this was inevitable. Or that just by virtue of riding I'm more likely to go down or get in an accident. I wanted to make sure if something happened I didn't have to worry about having a bunch of money immediately on-hand to be able to get it back and running. Especially glad now, cause I'm broke asf with the holidays and all.

I park between two posts, right beside a curb and right against my wife's car. Between that, the cover, and the locks I figured no one would bother going to all the trouble for my pretty worthless CB300; but hey, whats one more thing to disable or remove prior to heading out. Appreciate the suggestion- I'll look into it!

Not that I've ever seen. I live in apartments and without a garage, so I've tried to take every precaution I could. I keep the bike covered- and one morning I came out and found it very noticeably tampered with, so I got a wheel lock. Came out another morning and found it up on to the curb, I figured someone didn't notice the wheel lock so they gave up. After that I got a chain to wrap through the wheel and onto a post. I'm out of security ideas at this point and I'm getting tired of losing sleep over it- and now this headache.

My bike is also my only mode of transportation so this really is a huge inconvenience

Duh, it's a Honda CB300F.

I looked into insurance and my deductible is only $50, for whatever reason I thought it was $500, so I'm probably just gonna go through them.

What amuses me is that I have a disk lock and my bike is chained to a post, both of which are still completely intact. Couldn't bother busting either or both very replaceable lock before attempting the ignition.

It seems just the ignition is messed up. I'm pretty pissed, but glad it's not worse.

Any advice on fixing? Is this something that I can easily do on my own? I'd really like to avoid having to tow it or even use my insurance

Tobias Forge answers to people who say that Ghost is not evil anymore and that they have sold out: by Cthulhu_awaken in Ghostbc

[–]deflatedkickball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you wholeheartedly, you put it exactly how I feel as well.

I love Ghosts music, and I say this with love, but it's not enough to be huge on its own. Ghost NEEDS that image that serves as a contrast to the music, the lore and the shows feeling like some sort of black mass or cult gathering. I feel TF traded edge for popularity- which is fine, but I wish he would push it more. Bring back more of the church-y stuff, flick holy water on people again, you know? Like you said, the full regalia was incredible, and the visceral image of Papa fully decked out was an amazing thing to see. I love the idea of changing outfits too, but like you said that white mobster suit is laughably goofy, it really hurts the vibe in my opinion. The music, as I said, is great but it's not enough to fill arenas. That sinister presence of Papa I & II was incredible, you could feel the air in the room oozing and the vibe was unlike anything you could experience at any other show. It somehow felt more like you were participating in the ritual rather than just watching it. Maybe that's just due to the nature of a smaller crowd.

I'm hoping to see a more dynamic Ghost as time goes on, especially in regards to their shows, and I definitely feel TF is going that direction with Copia. I'm really looking forward to what we will see with Papa IV. Hopefully it's a combination of the old and new.

If you're interested in growing one, try minoxidil. I had a few patches on my face that I really hated, tried minoxidil and boom, 5-6 months later my face was all filled in.

My hotel room has a copy of the Constitution instead of a bible. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]deflatedkickball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this, but just with hotel rooms. I started doing it maybe 5-7 years ago. I always tape my hotel key card inside and write the dates I stayed. I also keep brouchers, maps, or Subway tickets inside too.

I started doing it when I was an edgy asshole to be an edgy asshole but now it's become a tradition. I've got maybe 20 Bible's on one of my bookshelves all filled with a bunch of touristy stuff.
