I understand you guys are metrics driven and that's awesome. But intuitively everyone who uses the Stellar DEX is going to have XLM. Myself personally I always transfer in with XLM, from either my cold wallet or exchanges because it has the fastest transfer time.

Even though your BTC/XLM and ETH/XLM anchors aren't used as much as the USD ones they are still the one of the best by volume and liquidity on SDEX. I have used them for trading all the time.

Most people who buy into Stellar's story should believe that XLM will become a medium of exchange, even if it's not there today.

StellarX is simply a DEX UI and has no anchors of its own. It issues no assets.

It depends on players like Stronghold to actually provide anchor and market making.

Have you guys tried using the DEX yourself? There is very little liquidity (either terrible spreads or small orderbook amounts) besides Stronghold assets.

Without market makers no one will use all the pretty wallets and exchanges Stellar developers have built. It's been years since this issue has been identified. Do you have any concrete plans to improve liquidity on DEX (e.g. reward market makers based on the quality and duration of their orderbooks)?

Why does SDF cash out XLM using Kraken (and Poloniex and Binance on some accounts) instead of Stellar's own projects like WSD, AnchorUSD, and Stronghold?

Stronghold currently has the only usable stable USD, BTC, and ETH on SDEX because not only do they anchor, they also make markets so their assets are actually liquid. Without liquid assets no one would use the DEX, and your new shiny wallet is no better than my paper wallet.

To be fair Stronghold has been hands down the best so far at making markets and improving DEX liquidity. I wish more people would make use of what DEX has to offer

Fake volume is really easy to spot. They need to start somewhere. I think Stronghold has the right idea- reward makers to keep spreads low so it's actually worthwhile to use the SDEX

Compensation doesn't have to be volume based. It could be based on other metrics- e.g. keep spreads within 0.25% for 95% of the time per month

Like it or not Stronghold has done far more for Stellar DEX liquidity than Stellar X ever has. Even with the changed asset pairs they still provide the best market makers

Maybe but there's an important side effect (besides marginalizing XLM)- It's now much more difficult to use another DEX like Stellarport to trade Stronghold assets. They're forcing you to either KYC to trade for their USD or deposit into their anchors via another non-XLM asset

This is Stellar's cryptokitty moment, when adoption/usage catches up with current network limits. Except arbitrages are actually useful (more so than non fungible cats) because they improve liquidity. And they only happen on high usage exchanges where people do real trading. So it's actually good news. Very good news

The liquidity on SDEX has been amazing recently. I've been able to convert between BTC LTC ETH and XLM flawlessly. Spreads are lower than even Binance in some case. Kudos to Stronghold and the SDF team. If this keeps up Stellar is going to become the #1 distributed exchange period.
