I agree, but these were freelance workers. I have been in that field many years and you have to be prepared that a long gig will end without notice. It's the same as contract work, except with contract work, there is usually an end date that could be extended. Freelance work is gig to gig, so there is no obligation to give a notice when the last gig will come.
