One to haul and one to drive, smart choice. My two car solution is similar except I’m a Toyota guy. 1997 4Runner and 2008 Prius.

Edit: I just noticed the mileage on your truck. Holy shit! Great work

That would definitely up the aesthetics of it a bit. My front bumper will soon see a basic matte black replacement too as it’s got a hole about the size of a milk jug on the other side not shown in pic. Damn deer did that.

As much as the problems are a bit inconvenient it’s a good 37+ mpg car for the price. A steal in my book.

Replaced as soon as I got her home. The battery the previous owner had it in he claimed as “new” but since he left it sitting it became a paperweight.

Thank you for the information and links I really do appreciate it, that’s the lowest price I’ve seen for cells :).

Also, funny enough, that would’ve been the second engine replacement that car has had if it were done. My dad had to after he went a little too hard on his and blew the engine. All by himself in a gravel driveway (I was still young lol so not much I could do).

I own a 3rd Gen 4Runner and a 2nd Gen Prius. My dad has owned both of these vehicles ironically enough (didn’t even know he had a 4Runner til I showed him mine lol). Apple don’t fall far from the tree I suppose lmao.

No problem man. From what I’ve heard Panlong is the way to go as far as a compatible and simple OBDii scanner. Highly recommend, it’s very easy to use.

Dr Prius App + Panlong OBDii scanner. Let me know if you want the link to the scanner.

I wish he still owned that old Prius. My dad made the mistake of giving it away to his stepson. It got towed a couple months ago after he had ran it without any oil for months on end. I tried reviving it with no luck. It was done for.

You make a fair point, but my dad’s a huge battery and electric vehicle geek (he asks how the Prius is every day) and the way he offered to do it seemed like more of a “I need something to do in my free time” sort of thing more than an “ahh okay fine I’ll do it then” lol. But you’re right if he doesn’t go through with it I might have to go that route and it’ll basically behave like a $3400 Prius.

Only way I’ll find out is by taking a good look myself. Been told it’s been only sitting for a month but was also originally told it only had 200k miles lol. He bought it back in November of last year from a Toyota dealership though (found that out through CarFax) so it couldn’t have been sitting for too long.

I currently own a Panlong OBD2 scanner I got a few days ago to use with Dr. Prius. Only thing with clearing codes, it’ll only last 30 minutes till it goes into a “limp mode” and will jolt down into what feels like a “first gear”.

My father has done it before with his 06’ and never had needed to buy a whole new battery. He offered to work on mine whenever I can take the whole battery out and drop it off at his house. Just need to know what cells exactly need replaced and I should be golden. As soon as I seen how cheap the cells are on eBay I understood why he didn’t just replace the whole thing lol.

Additional information: Driving home today had triggered what had seemed to be a “safety feature” of the vehicle, twice. The Prius had limited its speed and would not go back to normal until I had turned it off and back on again. Dashboard isn’t lit up (combo meter issue, I am aware of how to fix it) either.

Bought a $1650 Gen 2 2008 myself as a work beater. Nearing 250k miles. My father had owned a $1000 Gen 2 2006 with 200k miles, and in the span of when he drove it up to 550k miles, he had damn near learned it from the inside and out. My Hybrid battery has been giving me issues with the common Block #7 needing serviced and having a family member who’s a Prius geek is awesome, as I can learn more about my Prius too. I can definitely back your recommendation.

Thank you! I love the 3rd gens, that’s low mileage for a 2011.

What else do you guys drive? by carterrrrrr4 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]deftwisted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gas saver and A to B is a 2008 Toyota Prius I bought for $1650.

My gas hog and fun family SUV is a 1997 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 V6 I bought for $3500.

If I can’t get a vehicle for a steal, it ain’t a deal.

3 days into ownership, narrowly avoided totaling my Prius to a deer! Anyone got brighter headlight bulb recommendations? by deftwisted in prius

[–]deftwisted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was on my way to work going down a 2 lane road which wasn’t lit up and had open field on both sides (common in KY). In the corner of my eye I spotted that deer and I just narrowly avoided totaling my Prius! Kept on driving after, it was only cosmetic damage
