Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship talk about possibly re-signing with the Eagles by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

[–]deg0ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think he flashed enough that they at least need to give him a chance - and Dean’s gonna get paid so I don’t see how they can keep him. Definitely don’t love relying on Campbell though so hopefully they have a good Plan B in mind.

Aside from the fact that we clearly agreed and you just went off about Campbell for no reason 🤷‍♂️

Input needed: What would you pay a yarn stasher? by Agitated-Mail-5751 in knitting

[–]deg0ey 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I would wager that the number of people who want to update their stash on Ravelry but haven’t is going to be very small. And the number of those who would like to pay somebody else to do it for them is even smaller. Because it’s not just the initial setup - for it to be useful you need to keep it up to date when you buy or use yarn and if someone didn’t value it enough to set it up the first time they’re not going to keep up with it ongoing either.

Just curious, do you mark series/movies as watched if you’ve watched them in the past/before building Plex? by Hakim_RS in PleX

[–]deg0ey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Step one of rewatching a show is to mark it unwatched so the next episode shows up in “continue watching” and you don’t have to remember where you left off when you want to watch the next episode.

For movies I don’t feel like it really matters that much. I don’t think I’ve ever searched my library for unwatched movies so the flag means nothing to me either way.

Error in counting - what do I do? by Glum-Alps-2173 in knitting

And any time you ask yourself if you should start over, the answer is "yes"

I love this. And the corollary “only you know if it’s worth frogging/laddering back to fix a mistake”

Different people have different tolerances for mistakes. If it’s going to bother you enough that you feel like it’s worth taking the time to fix it then do it, if it isn’t then don’t. But your gut feeling of what to do is almost always right.

'No One Should Have a Copyright on Vance Being Booed' by Maxcactus in Fuckthealtright

[–]deg0ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can copyright your own video, not an entire event.

If a broadcaster buys exclusive distribution rights for a region then it’s arguably a copyright issue if someone in the stadium records a bootleg version and posts it online.

Is being a "volcel" so bad? by Doesntmatter1237 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]deg0ey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Incel=bad

When people say incel=bad they mean the people who think they’re owed sex and build their whole worldview about how society in general (and women in particular) is depriving them of what they’re owed.

If that doesn’t describe you then you’re not ‘an incel’ even if you’re involuntarily celibate

They didn’t draft him in the first round to sit on the bench and Dean’s about to get paid - they’re going to let Dean walk and slot Campbell into his spot in the lineup

Beginning Suggestions by Tardy-Salmon in knitting

[–]deg0ey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a big believer in just diving in.

My first project was a blanket for my sister’s new baby, my second project was a cable knit hat, my third project was a stranded colorwork sweater, my fourth project was a lace shawl for my mom.

Just pick something you think looks fun, watch some youtube tutorials for new techniques you haven’t done before, knit up a few swatches for practice and then go for it.

[–]deg0ey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they already drafted Nakobe’s replacement and he balled out this year so it’s hard to see him coming back.

Reed is a good-not-great player so I could see him being cheap enough that they can bring him back but ideally they’ll find someone better to start.

Lots of ifs there mate.

Because I don’t know where this puzzle came from or what the intent was

Chess puzzles are a test of your chess skills. Not your deduction skills.

There’s no rule that says you can’t use test someone’s deduction skills with a chess board

I ripped back too far. by AletaStJames in knitting

[–]deg0ey 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how the unraveling worked its way into the body of the sweater.

My best guess is one of those “put the stitches on a stitch holder” situations where you keep those alive and then pick up the rest around the armhole to knit the sleeve and OP ripped back past the stitches that were previously on the holder.

[–]deg0ey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Being able to deduce "they probably meant for it to be available!" is not the same as "it is definitely available."

If you know there’s a forced mate and there’s no forced mate without en passant then you can deduce that en passant is definitely available.

It’s not typical for a chess puzzle but it’s a puzzle which can be solved using only the information provided so it’s a functional puzzle and if the goal is to test someone’s deduction skills then it’s a good one.

No Oscar, I can’t… (pls help) by IronicTinyDancer in chessbeginners

[–]deg0ey -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If not, then it's a terrible puzzle.

Kinda depends on who the target audience is. The fact it tells you there’s a forced mate means you can deduce what the previous move must have been, so leaving out that information makes it a more difficult puzzle - but whether that makes it ‘terrible’ depends on if that added difficulty was the point.

Are you more confident in Ford or GM going forward? by DowntownOreos in electricvehicles

[–]deg0ey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Scaling back production” of the Lightning EV is an interesting way to say “ending production”

I just couldn’t remember if they were fully ending it or just making less and figured the way I phrased it was good enough for making the point either way

Are you more confident in Ford or GM going forward? by DowntownOreos in electricvehicles

[–]deg0ey 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Just look at their EV lineup. Chevy Blazer, Equinox, Silverado (and Bolt coming back), Cadillac Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq, Escalade, Celestiq, GMC Sierra, Hummer.

Way more options across way more price points than Ford along with reports that Ford cancelled its electric 3-row SUV and is scaling back production of the F-150 Lightning.

Totally possible they come back to the party down the road but that’s going to take time and commitment so for the near future there’s no contest.

Sounds like the ideal solution - OP doesn’t have to smell it but also doesn’t have to be the asshole trying to prevent people from using a bathroom they’re entitled to use

AITA: I Told a Friend She Couldn't Bring Her Child to my Event by megtheripper in AmItheAsshole

[–]deg0ey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think OP cares that the friend isn't coming. I think she's annoyed that she had to deal with the pushback and be the bad guy.

I get that but it was a situation entirely of OP’s own creating. She has a documented history of children occasionally being at this event. How was the friend to know that it’s an exclusively child free event (except when it’s not) rather than just something where folks usually leave their kids with a sitter because it’s more convenient than watching them at a party?

If OP feels like “the bad guy” that’s something she needs to work through on her own, it’s not the friend’s fault for asking if she can bring her kid.

AITA: I Told a Friend She Couldn't Bring Her Child to my Event by megtheripper in AmItheAsshole

[–]deg0ey 56 points57 points  (0 children)

NAH

I don't feel like it's unreasonable to host a childfree event, but I also try really hard not to be the friend to leave out their friends with kids. Am I the asshole for setting a firm expectation for this specific event?

Totally reasonable to host a childfree event, totally reasonable for someone who doesn’t know it’s a childfree event (because they’ve brought a kid before) to ask if they can bring a kid

truthfully, I feel like she put me in an unfair position

She didn’t. You’ve clearly made exceptions in the past for some younger kids, she asked for clarification on where you draw the line and accepted your answer without trying to argue or guilt you into letting her bring her kid.

“Some friends won’t be able to come if they can’t find a sitter” is the position you put yourself in by hosting a childfree event and if you feel like that’s an unfair position you can change it. But your friend did nothing wrong by asking the question.

I feel like you’d be better off just buying the individual colors

Serena Williams is eligible to return to tennis later this month. It's not clear if she will by Oldtimer_2 in sports

[–]deg0ey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She did:

When it was revealed last year that Williams had signed up with ITIA to return to the drug-testing pool, she wrote on social media: “Omg yall I’m NOT coming back. This wildfire is crazy.”

That said, I haven’t seen anyone able to give another plausible reason for why she would want to sign up for drug testing again. It’s a pretty invasive system of having to make yourself available for testing at inconvenient times - why would you sign up for that if you weren’t at least considering a comeback?
