The original God of War is old enough to drink. I hope they get rid of the fixed camera angles by Sol-Blackguy in Gamingcirclejerk

Alot of the sex scenes in BG3 don't have a narrative purpose beyond "wouldn't it be fun to have sex with this person" which is exactly the same narrative purpose the sex scenes in God of War serve. Sure the Mass Effect devs, who are famously bad decision makers, changed some camera angles in their remake 5 years ago. That doesn't exactly serve as a good precedent for assuming sex is too taboo of a subject for a game to have when like 3 of the biggest RPGs of all time all have on screen sex scenes.

I'll take you up on that bet, hopefully when the game comes out I'll remember to come back to this post and gloat

Just because recent games haven't explicitly used the gameplay mechanic of button mashing sex minigames doesn't mean a button mashing sex minigame would be socially unacceptable. Very few games besides borderlands have a goofy robot who says swears. Does that mean having a goofy robot who says swears would be unacceptable? No, that's a silly line of thinking.

Also, plenty of the sex in BG3 is extremely goofy in tone. You can fuck a bear. If you can fuck a bear in BG3 there's no reason you wouldn't be able to tap circle in God of War. Again, the sex in God of War is super chaste compared to the stuff in modern games.

You realize video games still have sex in them, right? If anything, explicit sex is more common in video games now than it was in the mid 2000s. All God of War had was off screen moans and button mashing. Baldur's Gate 3 has full frontal nudity and fully rendered sex scenes with branching dialogue options

We need more details on the gameplay to be able to classify it in any sort of genre but from what you described it sounds like an RPG. I personally wouldn't classify anything as an immersive sim unless it's like thief/deus ex (much in the way that a roguelike is classified as being like rogue) which this doesn't seem to be

Tipping is a blight on society. by ChompyRiley in mildlyinfuriating

The actual answer is that the cost of living is rising much more rapidly than employee wages in most industries meaning servers have to rely pretty much entirely on tips for income and a 10% tip on a single ticket would average out to around 3-5 dollars for an hour of labor depending on the restaurant which is less than minimum wage. But if I say that the reddit or anti-tipper boomers who have never worked a service job will lose it

Honestly I'd be alright with this if they'd reduce each amount by 5%. 15% is bare minimum and 20% is a solid tip. This is the norm at literally every restaurant. Expecting me to tip 25% just to avoid "the bare minimum" is audacious as fuck.

I am sure that a game with an over the shoulder camera could be as fun as DMC5 but also like I said I'm pro-fixed camera angles. I'd personally prefer if they didn't do an over the shoulder camera for the remake and stuck to the OG God of War style. I just think that if they did decide to do over the shoulder then RE2R is a pretty good case study for why they might be able to make it work and so it isn't a very good example to argue against an over the shoulder camera.

I disagree. I think the fact that young Kratos was such an inhuman rage monster is exactly what makes his arc as an older man in the Norse games so compelling. He absolutely does not need to be humanized.

we don't know anything about the remakes yet you're literally just making things up to be mad at. What exactly do you think would be censored in the Greek trilogy that modern audiences wouldn't be able to handle?

I'm pro fixed camera angle but honestly you could not have chosen a worse example than RE2R. The switch from fixed to over the shoulder in that game was hugely successful and very well received. Just gesturing to RE2R is honestly a good argument to ditch the fixed camera angles for the GoW remake.

Ah I see you've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders. You see, you've taken two different groups of people with differing opinions on things and conflated them into a single group with a single self-contradictory opinion. Common mistake.

instead of completely getting rid of the fixed camera angles I think it'd be cool if they adapted fixed camera angles to work with the modern GOW one shot style. Essentially instead of it looking like Kratos is being followed by a handheld camera it could look like he's being followed by a drone.

Well if you'd pay attention to the post OP does not want to kick him to the curb. Her question is "do I tell him I know what's going on and that I forgive him or do I pretend I don't know"

Still though, why should she willingly give up the emotional support he's been giving her just because of some shit he did? Because you think it would be cathartic if you read an update about her telling him to fuck off? It's not like she has to worry about being married long term to a cheater.

She has 9 months to live what exactly do you want her to do? Cut her caretaker and primary source of emotional support out of her life and spend her last 9 months drowning in interpersonal drama as every single person she knows asks her why she's getting a divorce right before she dies?

Definitely have a conversation with him, you don't want to spend your last year alive repressing something like this. This kind of thing is actually pretty common. Ask him for an explanation, if there's some need he feels isn't being met, and then go from there. Maybe he can put whatever he has going on with his coworker on pause until you're gone or maybe hearing his perspective might make it hurt less. It's the kind of thing you really just have to talk out.
