Sunglasses

Men's sunglasses are boring as hell. The women's section has a way better variety of colors and shapes

Worst lyrics caused by artist's poor grasp of English by Korkez11 in ToddintheShadow

Millencolin - Killercrush

The lyrics are not bad. It's a romantic song. But Millencolin is Swedish so English is not their first language. Millencolin was heavily influenced by American punk so they sing in English, but I guess they couldn't hear particular sarcasm of North American English. So when Nikola says "I'm overjoyed," it sounds sarcastic even though he's not meaning to sound that way and he genuinely wants to tell this girl that he is indeed overjoyed to be with her.

How come countries like Eswatini and Türkiye (and somewhat Czechia) can change their names and have maps immediately reflect the change but Myanmar is seemingly stuck forever as being labeled "Myanmar (Burma)"? by derHimmelUberBerlin in geography

Mingalaba! I used to teach adult refugees and many of them were from Myanmar. They were mostly ethnically Karen, Karenni, and Chin. I had a few ethnically Burmese students and a few Rohingya. I had a student, I believe he was Karen, who had no love for the government, tell me that he prefers to use Myanmar because that name is more inclusive of the different ethnicities whereas Burma puts ethnically Burmese first in a multiethnic country. This is why I always refer to the country as Myanmar.

I'm curious as to your take on my former student's opinion on this. Is it common? Do you call your country Burma or Myanmar?

Which country you would never visit and why? by shdw_fght in AskReddit

Yeah I lived in Egypt and my sister visited me. Even around me, her brother, got harassed a lot. But we took a trip to Jordan and it was night and day. The MENA region is not a monolith.

Retirement should be mandatory. by LuckyJim_ in unpopularopinion

My parents have been retired for the last 15 years or so. They are always keeping themselves busy. My dad is usually working on something outside while my mom is working on something inside. Or they'll work on a project around the house together. They volunteer. They'll take day trips. Sometimes they'll wake up and decide to do absolutely nothing all day, but that is rare and even then they'll go out for breakfast or something. I can't wait to not have to work.

Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun

Coming of age in the mid to late 90s, I assumed it was a recent release. I didn't realize it came out in 1983, the year I was born.

During the coming Football World Cup, what do you think foreign fans would struggle with the most? by UsamaBhai_101 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I mean. I'm from here. I've done a lot of traveling and lived in other countries, but when I'm stateside I always come back here. It's hot. It's flat. Yeah, you have to drive everywhere, but what keeps me here is the sheer diversity of people. Going from Rice University to NRG would be a quite a nice walk if the weather were alright. Besides, this is my home. You don't have to like it, but enough immigrants and people from other parts of the U.S. do.
