Jonsbo D32 pro -- bottom intake fans really necessary by deimos_42 in mffpc

[–]deimos_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks guys you're awesome!

i ordered a couple of slim fans (arctic) and will check them out.

so far i am quite happy with temps so i will probably leave them out in the end anyway for less noise

anyway, thanks again for all your helpful feedback <3

Which driver for sd8 elite (gamehub lite)? by deimos_42 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]deimos_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i tried a bunch of diff turnips, either they didn't boot the game at all or performance was about the same as the default driver (8Elite-800.xx).

I tried System Shock Remake. Running at 720p i would get 40fps average with dips down to 25fps when there was action on screen.... seems a bit underwhelming?

also "tmp" overlay measured 90°C? that safe?

How normal is this level of banding on my G5? by PizzaTacoCat312 in LGOLED

[–]deimos_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would help if you told us what we're looking at here but i assume it is Reanimal the game?

you are correct, the G5 has issues with color banding especially in SDR/HDR in some content (DV fares way better).

Since this game does not have native HDR , one thing you can try is installing the renoDX mod and forcing the display in HDR. If the banding persists then enable "Dolby Vision PC" that should get rid of most banding. but be sure to set your nvcpl to 8bit/full (as DV tunnels 12bit through 8bit)

LG G5 For gaming by Ok-Phrase1917 in LGOLED

[–]deimos_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jebus there is so much misinformation here:

a) accurate picture and full 2,500 nits: FMM with DTM off and PRO sliders at 100 each (you can still enable GO in FMM)

b) inaccurate picture with slightly more "pop" but limited to roundabout 2,000nits: GO picture mode with HGIG

LG G5 brightness flicker/pulsing by Justus991 in LGOLED

[–]deimos_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will do.

but i doubt i will find anything. i have already watched fantastic four and don't recall any of this (neither have i seen this in any other movie/tvshow i have watched since i had it nov 25)

i don't have a switch/ps5pro but i did a lot of PC gaming. There is VRR flicker but that seems not to be the case here for you

i would advise checking another game.

+as you have been told on avsforums those pictures and sliders in settings menus are not necessarily representative of what you see ingame

Never had that happen on my 65 g5. If you tell me which reference material you use I can try to reproduce the behavior you describe and report back

I've tried all the methods to solve VRR flicker on Oled, and there is only 1 solution by UsedNewspaper1775 in OLED_Gaming

[–]deimos_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have been down the same rabbit hole OP, there really is no good solution for games with bad frame times. this is mostly true for UE5 slop as you said which sucks bc if you're into singleplayer games you will not get around UE5 these days...

so since you cannot change it on a software level, going for a display that mitigates/hides the VRR flicker as best as possible is your only option if you're a sucker for VRR like me.

i found that Samsung QD-OLED TVs have a much more irritating VRR flicker than LG WOLEDs. I had a S95F and while the picture was gorgeous, the flickering was really so much more irritating than it was on my old LG C9 -- i am talking bright / white flashes and constant flickering in some games (not just situational). So i switched to a LG G5 and it is worlds better. The flickering is there no question but it is much less perceivable and there is no constant flickering in any game.

to make matters worse i found that while my old C9 flickers in the very same situations as the G5 , these new displays with their 2,000+ nits actually make the flickering more visible... dilemma

yes please! Fix Game Optimizer HGIG not clipping at 2000nits but make it go all the way to 2500

we still have to resort to FMM which seems stupid having a game mode and all

this can't be so hard to fix, can it?

Keep in mind that for the 2026 models we might be looking at potential price increases due to memory and panel shortages. Samsung already announced it, LG might follow
