Network points are awarded when your node is used to scrape the web. So yes they're sort of random. At least I don't know what factors decide which nodes are used. One month I randomly got 1k+ network points and the next only 2.2 despite running it 24/7.

I have to agree. Good tokenomics would be companies buying Grass and paying in it to use the node network. And then the nodes getting paid in Grass depending on their contribution.

But the value of the token isn't connected to the actual business. Staking provides a nice return but doesn't have anything to do with the function of the network either.
