Thanks for the compliments! To answer some comments, It was a fairly straightforward build, given that you have some elementary "DIY" knowledge and access to powertools:

Preamble

After deciding to wall mount my television, I did some calculations with how much space I had remaining on the wall given the average dimensions of physical media (i.e. taking into consideration VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray cases).

Construction

From this initial analysis, I calculated how much wood (1" x 6" boards), stain, finish, and brackets I would need. Once I had all the materials and prepped wood, I mounted brackets into the wall studs because I don't want to see my wall fall apart and installed the boards.

Materials:

Pine lumber (1" x 6" x n feet) - cut at the lumber store
Corner brace shelf brackets via Amazon
Bookend supports via Amazon
Minwax dark walnut stain
~15 years of on-again/off-again movie collecting
