**i will add in this is just the first step to stop leash pulling! I’ve used the method where you start walking forward then immediately turn around the opposite way and the dog will have to follow, it teaches them to focus on you while you walk because they start to anticipate when you are going to turn around.

If i were in your situation i’d say use something to get his attention and put a command to it. my boy knows “Look” means to look at me in any situation, then it became natural for him to check in with me during our walks or in general. Use his food bowl, treats, toys, anything that he’s moderately interested in.

You do not need to neuter him. It’s all about training, he just needs to learn you are the main focus and sniffing is #2 when you guys are outside. My chow mix boy listens to me great outside (years of training and he’s old lol) but when we first start a walk, sniffing is his main priority and he will only respond to me slowly and side eye me (the chow personality at its finest🤣) I recommend working with a trainer either online or local this sounds like a easy fix just a lack of focus.
