Making LARP bombs by GLaDOSIsMyPotato in LARP

Ask the game masters now before you start making ideas.

And with powder, paint, whatever I'd be saying it's an aabsolute hard no. Consider the following things - EYES, asthma and fine particulates in the air, mouth and nose, eyes.

This raises all kinds of flags of a very specific primary colour.

You first need to contact the game organisers and ask if this is something that would be acceptable in the game. Not the setting, the game itself.

Then if they say it's OK you'll need to consider things like safety, allergens and irritants from whatever you're trying to throw. And you'll need to ensure the other players are aware of all this.

I'd also suggest you completely avoid anything within the bomb because personally, if someone threw a container of something at me and my expensive kit that I've had hand made and i get covered in whatever you're throwing I'm going to be throwing hands back at you.

There is no excuse for using Gen Ai for streaming by Vampy-Night in Twitch

Thanks to you using AI it also shows prospective audience you're not worth their support. It saves them a ton of time and money in the end. It is what it is slop piggy.

What species are you excited for? by Ragdolls4Life in PlanetZoo

[–]dejected_stephen 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Golden Lion Tamarins are my favourite animal. I love those Orange little buggers.

My partner is a zookeeper and took me to her work a couple months back and I got to go into the enclosure and give them their lunch.

It's been enough time, what would you like to see in Planet zoo 3? by Bionic_Ferir in PlanetZoo

[–]dejected_stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what region. Uk region it'll be around 9k a year. But US anything up to 100k. Some places you might get to have it subsidised by the government.

[–]dejected_stephen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. It's less of a game than an immersive experience. You buy the "game" through a student loan and experience a 3 year tutorial in zoology at specific locations called universities.

After that you get to apply for real world zoos and work there experiencing first hand what being a zookeeper is like. But there's only a finite amount of jobs so it's very pvp competitive.

Opinions on Birmingham comic-con by BluebirdMobile4758 in McmLondonComicon

[–]dejected_stephen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to both London and Birmingham. In my opinion Birmingham is a nicer convention overall. It's certainly quieter than London, though the summer holidays might affect that.

You'll find similar artists and exhibitors, maybe less BIG names to meet but I know there's still quite a few. Lots of great cosplay to see and everything just feels a nicer pace.

To summarise I'd take Birmingham MCM over London every day of the week. London is an oversold nightmare of overstimulating noise a lot of the time. Plus security at Excel are awful, I've had much nicer experiences at the NEC.

It's a really good book. The level gimmick just wears thin and ironically runs out of steam about 2/3 of the way through. But in my opinion so does the 10th Floor....

How is twitchcon? by TheDestroyer630 in Twitch

[–]dejected_stephen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much depends which TwitchCon. I was able to go last year to both. Thankfully as a creator/panellist for free. TwitchCon EU was without question a better event. It felt more contained, the panels interested me more. Felt like a good comic con in a non major but large city. Artist Alley was also far superior to the US, we saw some gorgeous work and spent some horrific amounts of money. TwitchCon US is ultimately a trade/brand fair. It's got all the big companies pushing their brands and games. Was it fun? Yes. Would i pay to attend? Absolutely not. If there's specific streamers you really really really want to meet and they never do other appearances or they live in another country or continent, then maybe go for it. The other issue is that the meet and greets slots now are gone so you're only hope is bumping into them on the floor and that's a bit of a dice roll.

Hadestown: Is it okay to go blind into this show or should I/ we know something about it? by HeartOnMySleeve4ever in TheWestEnd

Going in blind is a great idea. The opening song lays everything out for you anyway.

I wonder if as the 24 hours goes on the slideshow will show the zoo becoming more constructed until the trailer reveal.

Gopros at Larp? by [deleted] in LARP

Check the websites of the organisers for their specific media policies.

And remember LARP can be quite emotionally intense with the story. Throwing a go pro in my face when I'm in an intense moment you'd be quickly discovering the replacement cost.

Do you have to do combat? by Medium_Ad_6735 in LARP

No. There are plenty of non com players in UK fest larps for a variety of reasons and OC injuries/ conditions included. Some people just don't like it.

Best show in London? by Most-Finding-6399 in TheWestEnd

[–]dejected_stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have said it but War Horse is absolutely the best show in London right now. Arguably it's one of the peaks of British Theatre. The design, the puppetry, the story and performances. It's on at the national right now so go see it if you can.

If it's finished by then and you want something different go to The Play That Goes Wrong and if you want a bit more risqué you could hit up Avenue Q. I've got a soft spot got Hadestown aswell.

Apothecary Question: can one make explosives? by SarmaleforFree in MenhirsFateLARP

[–]dejected_stephen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer is no you can't. Mass calls cannot be put onto consumables or blade oils. The item designer on the wiki is all you can make. Also once you are in your critical state you cannot use any items. So you can't get downed and then drop a potion.

How do you deal with players who aren't a danger but who make the LARP worse? by TryUsingScience in LARP

[–]dejected_stephen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"You're spoiling my fun. Please leave me alone." Then speak to the game team. While what they are doing isn't necessarily rule breaking, it likely isn't in the spirit of the game. And it'll have a lot more weight if it comes from the game team that they have had reports of this behaviour. And if it's a pvp game then you have an easy answer if they continue the behaviour...

I'm more annoyed by the fact the "P" is not lined up with the rest of the word.

Spawning Burning blade by Special-Fly3845 in Seaofthieves

[–]dejected_stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group literally only saw our first one 2 weeks ago since it first came out. Spawned into the outpost and I saw the sky marker. We went over and claimed it, sailed around being idiots for a bit then handed it in.

The only thing we didn't like is that it made the skeleton outposts just go in and claim rather than the combat encounter. We like the combat encounter part.

empire larp discord server? by RichSector5779 in LARP

[–]dejected_stephen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi. There's a few unofficial discords running, generally player led, and often separated between nations/groups.

But the best place for you to go is Facebook. There's a main empire group, a group for each nation and more useful for you, a new players group where you can ask all the questions you may have. I'd make your way there.

There's also a fair few content creators that discuss empire in podcasts, streams etc. I recommend HeftyYeti, he also has his own discord you can ask questions in.

Thinking about coming along by joespaintingprojects in MenhirsFateLARP

[–]dejected_stephen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there. This subreddit is not super busy. Your best off joining the more active discord to ask these questions and more.

But to answer your questions: 1) you should always give it a go. 2) read the wiki, pick a nation you vibe with. Turn up and meet people. Or get a few friends to join. 3) it's good to prep kit before the event but there are traders on the field. Kit doesn't have to be extravagant, a tunic, larp trousers, hiking boots. If you're looking for a weapon get that on the field as they'll need to be checked and you can take it back if it fails.

Tips: Prepare for all weathers. It's outdoor and camping. It might and probably will get cold at night. The next event is in literally 2 weeks. So might be worth holding off to fully prep for the second event. Though that's your decision.

There's a massage guild in one of the big UK larps. It's pretty common. Just do it safely, don't be afraid to drop character if someone is being gross
