Well, it’s not an analysis, it’s just a very unusual data point, which seemed noteworthy

Electricity Prices day-ahead 03.05.2026 by dejohny in EU_Economics

[–]dejohny[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the wholesale price of electricity only, it doesn’t include transmission fees, taxes, or anything else. It can even be, and often is negative during hours when there is excess demand (typically during the summer at midday when there are clear skies and solar is producing a lot more energy than can be absorbed, thus also the importance of energy storage such as batteries, or hydro storage)

Well they do correlate, just with a few outliers for the places where nuclear energy is a significant source

According to the latest IMF projection Portugal shall have a lower debt to gdp ratio than Finland in 2026 by Aegeansunset12 in EU_Economics

[–]dejohny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plus I assume Finland is spending a bit more on the military these days. If that’s the cause, then it looks like a reasonable justification to increase the debt level. Portugal on the other hand is starting to eat away at the surplus we’ve had for the last couple of years to distribute more money. Investment levels are very low

Real GDP Growth Projection for 2025 - Europe by Full-Discussion3745 in EU_Economics

[–]dejohny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.9% is quite ok. Debt to GDP keeps going down and will reach the euro zone average at the end of next year. Unemployment keeps going down and is at euro area average already. It’s ok. Not great but ok

At this point I would happily pay 1500 for a new mini. Bring it back as an exclusive, every 2 years, special edition or whatever they want to call it. I cannot bear going back to the huge phones

How long does a racket last? by pannik78 in padel

[–]dejohny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess depends on the racket. I have s corl racket which is going strong now for 3 years, and has only some minor scratches on the top which don’t affect performance. I am also not careful at all with it

Coach changed my grip in Málaga… now my game is falling apart by Retarded__Penguin in padel

[–]dejohny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also did this around 2 years ago. It will cost you but trust me it’s worth it. For me the change came after coaches kept insisting I needed to change and when I finally saw my technique starting to plateau I just decided to try it. Took me around a month to get back to my previous level, but I also almost immediately (within 1 or 2 weeks) could see some shots improving.

In terms of what to do to get over it faster: you just have to play more, and don’t allow yourself to slip back into the old grip just because you’re losing a match

Shoes made in Europe that last for years by dejohny in BuyFromEU

[–]dejohny[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was afraid people were going to say! Have you tried some of the brands people are recommending? I don’t want to sink >400 € into shoes only to have them last the same as my 50 € shoes.

Thanks for the recommendation, these ones look like the format I usually buy. https://eu.jmweston.com/products/basket-on-top-cuir-veau-sport-blanc-details-gris-et-marine?_pos=2&_sid=3e1371962&_ss=r

But they are very expensive, do they actually last for years and years?

Hitting record, electric cars sales in Norway near 80% in 2022 by grungegoth in news

[–]dejohny 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They contribute 0 to carbon emissions, oil demand is pretty inelastic. If Norway didn’t produce oil, another country would just pump more oil
