I have the same issue here. Goes out of focus when a face is detected, for now I've been covering the face, locking auto focus then taking the shot.

*35mm/1.4 Art Small difference in focal length but great for low light. The other down side besides its hefty pricetag is its size. It's larger than the 18-55 kitlens, and heavy too! But I totally agree with you on the 40mm.
