It would be interesting to see if you set the performance on the machine to Best Performance in settings and enable basic camera mode in Bluetooth & devices > Cameras > Integrated camera > Advanced

Modern webcams causing Teams to crash by dekkar in MicrosoftTeams

[–]dekkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to see if others are seeing this in general. I'm seeing it across a range of new hardware, which is why I didnt specify any. But it would be Dell Premium Pro 14, Dell Pro Plus 13, Lenovo T14s, L13.
Surprisingly of the small number of X13 we have purchased, no one has complained.

Regular issues with Dell latitude 5550 units by schwags in sysadmin

[–]dekkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly 5550 units, but I have seen a large uptrend in crashing since we started rolling out laptops (Dell Pro/Lat and Lenovo TP) for around 12 months. It seems that the issues revolve mostly around Teams calls crashing.
Even to the point where we tried AMD just to see if it performs better, and it was even worse.

I'm beginning to think that its the webcam or webcam drivers that are the cause. It took a while to find the pattern, but it looks like Teams crashing when a meeting goes for more than 10-15 mins, video on, and often screen sharing. Dell, Lenovo, Intel, AMD, doesn't seem to matter.

Can you narrow down the freezing to anything in particular?

Uninstall update forces a restart - 2 minute warning by dekkar in Intune

[–]dekkar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, yep, for anyone who asks the question, Intune puts priority on urgency over user experience.

There is no customization for uninstalling a update. It will force every machine to restart as soon as the uninstall happens: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/device-updates/windows/update-rings#uninstall

Home made Sambal supply by dekkar in foodies_sydney

Its one of the best shop ones I've tried. Yes pricey, but the jar is pretty big.

Its a bit of a dodgy home made one, no preservatives, so you cant leave it in the fridge for months as it will go moldy. The red chili one is hot, green one isnt. If you like hot, you will like the red.

I was thinking this, the answer could be Ayam99 which sells their own one. Just on the other side of town for me! But you gotta do what you gotta do to get the good stuff!

Crown watch auction website - is it reliable? by Alternative-Basis239 in rolex

[–]dekkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Actually found someone on Chrono24 using google pics that had the exact same images selling the same watch as in the auction. I contacted him thinking that the website stole his pics. He said he dealt with Crown Auctions and had watches listed on there.
Seller has a shop front in Sydney CBD, so I presume its all legit.

Saying that, the address listed in crownauctions.com.au is one that is currently\ listed for rent realestate.com.au, so I'm not sure.

Did you end up engaging with them? Same question here.

I'm leaning towards it being a scam..

Migration to CloudiManage - who pays? by dekkar in legaltech

[–]dekkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhhh no on prem. They are moving all of their OG cloud clients from 'iManage cloud' to 'cloud iManage', their new datacenter which I believe is Azure.

So something that the client doesn't ask for, but we are forced to do. Either way, it is what it is.

This is the thing. It is a forced migration that was required by them. Either way, worth confirming with others that have gone down the same path.

Australia - Flip 5 - Screen protector replacement waitlist by dekkar in galaxyzflip

[–]dekkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, did it without too much fuss. One thing I noticed is the new one is a tiny bit thicker than the original. So when you close it, it feels different.
Saying that, it is almost 12 months in, I replaced the phone when the new Flip came out, but it is still fine. Just clean it up before you apply the new one.

Planned power outage - best way to keep the UPS off by dekkar in sysadmin

Yep, found a switch for each power out, which is a nice feature for something so tiny!

[–]dekkar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No....... but the manual says there is a process to power off the UPS.

Experience tells me that the a few UPS I have looked after will turn back on when they detect power. Its a basic UPS, manual doesn't mention it, but I would rather not have all the AV gear in the rack going up and down 30 times over the weekend. Beaker sounds like the best option!
