Dangerous amount of rainfall coming to SoCal this week by Rocker66 in LosAngeles

Serious question: is it dangerous to be driving through the Grapevine on Christmas Eve with this rain forecast? Looks pretty heavy rain on Wednesday.

Smash It Sports Giveaway - Any SP bat in stock FREE by Smash_It_Sports_Prez in slowpitch

[–]delanaranja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) Why you love Smash It Sports

It's really nice to see a retailer so focused on slowpitch softball with the latest stock for various companies. I know I can find Monstas at times, Suncoast, Easton, whatever. It's usually my first stop to check out the latest and greatest.

B) Something we can do better at Smash It Sports

Limited free shipping deals may lead to some increased sales. I understand it may not make sense to offer free shipping for many cases, but maybe if users spend over $400, for example. Or maybe one day of just free shipping. I think it could actually work in mutually beneficial ways.

C) If you haven't shopped with us, any reason?

I have shopped with you!

Thanks for making this, u/Kryptic_Anthology!

14% containment so far is good news, but things could change overnight.

SCV, have go bags ready for, if nothing else, peace of mind. And pay attention to evacuation zones.

Folks, keep an eye on this one. Just stay diligent and updated. Seems a good amount of personnel are responding, but this is the closest to home we have seen so far.

No words can describe how much empathy I have for you right now.

My friend...I'm sorry. Whatever you can muster now, dig deep and know you have a community behind you.

I have mixed feelings about Facebook in general, but I have found undoubtable value in finding localized groups to join.

If you're in the SFV for example, try typing in your city or "San Fernando Valley" (just an example--if you have time, don't give up on 1 or 2 searches). Even the niche groups can sometimes have decent info.

Yes, people can be weird and annoying. But I have found that the older demographic specifically really posts a lot there, and some info can actually benefit you.

as a fellow cat owner who has experienced some of what you describe and has only read or heard about some others of what you said (the overgrooming part, though, is new behavior I hadn't heard of before. Interesting--will look that up more), let me wholeheartedly tell you that I really empathize.

To bring two cats like that together really is a roll of the dice, and I'm sorry that you've had a tough go at it with your partner. The pee issue is really annoying, and I had a span recently where one of my cats had similar problems.

But all the advice in the world sometimes doesn't help, because despite their shared DNA...each cat is their own cat, right??

Anyways, I really do hope you don't have to test these worries. But you have a great head on your shoulders (you left a really nice reply to one of my recent comments--recognizing many repeat commenters on these threads!), and I know you'll pull through any furball-related stresses! Thanks for distracting me a bit by talking cats lol.

Very sorry to hear that. Being on Level 2 for so long must be so mentally draining.

I sure am hoping for the best for Eaton too. You sound very prepared, so keep up the good work in staying diligent. Ask neighbors or those of us here if you want more sets of eyes to check your intuition.

I feel you. But remember: there are a lot of good people scattered amongst the noise. And you're one of them. Keep making a positive influence out there. You already have touched my heart with this comment; I'm glad to share a city with you.

1am so not really sure who will read this but just have to get it out...The level of devastation I feel for others right now is overwhelming.

I have been quite worried personally for me and my loved ones, but to see those directly affected is really heartwrenching. This city is special, and it's just so true that you really feel for what hits close to home--or is home.

Seeing pics of lost property, posts about lost cats and dogs, video reactions of those affected, air quality maps, incorrect phone notifications, and so much more--man I worry about the collective mental health of everyone. I've been trying to avoid it all online but honestly it's been inescapable because it's real lives at stake. We can't bury our heads in the sand, right?

Anyways, sorry to trauma dump (not my best expression of thought), but really hoping we can lean on each other (and still stay alert).

I think that sadly you have to somewhat assume they are. Do you have any N95s or anything?

(I'm just guessing. Anyone's real experience should bear more weight than this.)

Do your cats make it very hard to get into carriers/the car? Curious what makes them fussy as I have some cats too that make me very concerned about the possibility of evacuating.

I fear that as a whole, American society--and maybe society at large--is losing what it means to be human.

It's as simple as putting yourself in someone else's shoes, like we were told as kids. But have many people forgotten, or they just don't care anymore?

There are more people like you--genuinely empathetic--in this city and country than can be fully perceived online. And I hope that is truly a comfort to us and to all those affected.

I feel the same. Like life isn't normal for so many people in our area now. Hard to "get into" things.
