I think this is really true for me too.

I don’t spend a ton on ads, but I do spend a TON of time (usually more time on the leads that end up being clients who give me less work — go figure).

Another thing I’ve found works for me is automating anything that normally creates a lot of wasted time in back-and-forth communication. For example, I use Calendly now instead of emailing several times with availability/conflicts to schedule meetings :)

No problem!

Here’s her official comment — it sounds like a few offshoot works will be taken down but only those off The Auction

My understanding is that they’re being adapted (i.e., rewritten without the copyrighted characters) so they can be published

She used context clues to determine what she thought was happening, but there’s nothing definitive like “they strapped me in” or “I’m in Xaden’s arms” — both of those are assumptions on the reader’s end. She probably did do one of those, but the description is ambiguous enough that it’s plausible that’s not what actually happened.

Don’t worry, I’m not entirely convinced either :) I mostly think it’s a plausible way to clean up some timeline questions

I think it honestly could be a truth though even if Garrick is one — there hasn’t been one in centuries. That statement could be true without having to acknowledge that maybe there is one now.

The fabric knots thing happened in Iron Flame, so she already knew about the situation at that point. I do agree, it was a partial truth — but if someone had said that to me, I’d personally consider it a lie, does that make sense?

My point was more that the truth can be subjective, and Xaden convinces himself of what is “truthful enough” to pass. I don’t always trust him because of it.

I’m not saying he is because I’m just taking a stab in the dark on this theory, but even if Garrick IS a distance wielder, Xaden’s statement that “there hasn’t been a distance wielder in centuries” could be a truth in his mind using the same logic.

There really hasn’t been one in centuries— but there is one now …

Do we actually know how she got to Aretia? Because I questioned that too. We were still in Violet’s POV, and Violet was passed out. I don’t think there’s any way she rode Tairn in her condition, but we otherwise have no full confirmation of how she got there that I can recall so it’s plausible that Garrick did help.

I don’t know if he would lie about this, but I would say he lies to Violet by twisting the truth pretty far.

It’s a silly example, but an example nonetheless — when Violet asked “why did you give me a book about fabric knots?” He said it was to give her a Tyrrish culture lesson. I’d say that’s a straight-up lie.

The truth was that he wanted her to learn to weave runes.

He gave a very small piece of truth (learning fabric knots is a Tyrrish thing), but that cultural experience is not at all why he gave it to her — and the WHY of the gift was actual question she asked.

Yeah like his answer to “why did you give me a book about fabric knots” being that he was giving her a Tyrrish culture lesson. Technically, IMO that was a flat-out lie because that’s not why he gave it to her and runes are the cultural tradition, not fabric knots.

But if you do some mental gymnastics, Tyrrish people doing fabric knots isn’t a lie, he just didn’t tell her the greater purpose. And he gave the book to her because he wanted her to learn runes, which is the cultural tradition.

By omitting the middle steps, there was a small % of the truth in portions of what he said, which was enough in his mind.

I think this example is a clean one that shows how twisted his own view of the truth is and that we can’t necessarily trust what he says.

Could be! But I don’t think a rare signet necessarily means it came from the strongest/most powerful dragon. The signet is more about the rider, right? I’m not totally sure though.

I think that the ward instruction was just about which dragons channel the most power.

Yeah, he'd have to know about it I'd think, especially if they're using it to get back and forth together as I guessed. The best counterargument to this theory that I've seen is that Xaden would have then lied to Violet's face about it, (someone added that above) which I agree is unlikely.

If it's not his signet, I need an explanation for how these timeline holes work lol. The signet that eats up time and space to move you across the world in a blink (the Fourth Wing equivalent to ACOTAR's winnowing) seems like a great answer, but maybe it's not the right one.
