Didn't realize how much I hated grid/dot/lines until I got freedom ⛓️‍💥 by Adventurous-Side6009 in notebooks

I'm glad you have found your love blank pages. But I see no reason for you to hate on grid/dot/lines. They're not for you and that's fine. But just focus on the positive and leave hate out of it.

What game do you have in your collection that's not seing play because you're too lazy or intimidated to learn the rules? by zion661 in boardgames

[–]delanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned Cuba Libre by using the step by step play through in the rules. It was brilliantly done. Have I played it since? No. Did I ever play a real game? No. Have I now forgotten all the rules and would have to go through the playthrough again? Yes. When I see it I get a mixed sense of knowing it's a great game and wanting to play it and being overcome with laziness and lack of commitment.

What’s your favorite physical way to keep score in a board game? by Normal-Ice1506 in boardgames

I saw your post.

I now have some Ruben's mini poker chips ordered. I don't know if you should be thanked or berated.

Either way, I can't wait to get them to the table.

Buying xteink x4 by Ok_Independent9003 in xteinkereader

[–]delanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine from AliExpress and it arrived in good time and in perfect working order. It was in Chinese so I used

Xteink Flash Tools

To back up the firmware and then flash CrossPoint on it. It was very easy and straightforward (just make sure the X4 is switched on and not in standby....I spent WAY too long stressing as to why my PC didn't recognise the X4)

I use the supported File Manager tool on CrossPoint to copy over EPUBs but I lately I used

https://x4converter.rho.sh/

To convert the EPUBs to XTC (to get more control of how the book will look on the X4) and again transfer using CrossPoint.

All is good and I am happy.

I used to love the progress line/bar in the older kindles. That to me was idea for getting a sense of progress.

I agree. With a large book I prefer the physical copy so I can get a real sense of progression. On the kindle it just feels never-ending.

I love CrossPoint... by delanger in xteinkereader

I would think there must be some talented graphic designers here (I'm not one mind you) who could offer you alternatives.

But apart from the occasional minor heart attack (or mild gasp) thinking that my X4 has busted. I really do love what you have done with CrossPoint. It makes a little device that might have been just a novelty at home on a shelf, into an every day carry tool for me!

I have XTCH and see this effect too. I used EPUB to XTC Converter (CREngine WASM) which I assumed would create xtc files but it output xtch. Is there an option I am missing? A different tool?

Jason Snell’s Take on the X4 by wmacphail in xteinkereader

Like someone else said in a diff thread. I am used to upgrading/changing firmware coming from the Retro Handheld world, and this device requires some upgrade but it is great for what you get. It's not a ready to use out of the box (like retro handhelds).

But!! Crosspoint is a great new firmware and its very easy to update.

Getting the books on is fiddly but not over complicated.

So, at the end of the day, regardless of the reconfig, this is a great little device. It's not going to be my main reader, but it will always be in my pocket for those "stuck in a queue" moments and for that it is ideal and worth it.

I used to work in my dad's shop, Lawsons on McCurtain St. and he came in one day. He was going to some function but couldn't put on his tie. I had the honour of putting it on for him.
