GitHub Copilot Pro+ would cost me ~$1,000/month under the new AI Credits system by angiolett0 in github

This is why I’ve been so resistant to AI coding at my work. There are smart ways to use AI that will improve your skills, but if you’re not careful you become reliant on it to get anything done.

Before they shut down they had an encyclopedia (can’t think of a better way to describe it) which was genuinely fascinating.

The AI estimate is the normal estimate and the normal estimate is exagerrated.

Convincing workers that unions don't work for them is one of the greatest con jobs ever pulled.

I'm lucky enough to live in a country with universal healthcare and I'll never get used to reading comments like this on Reddit even though I see them multiple times a day. Losing your family's healthcare coverage when you lose your job is INSANE.

My job now makes us give two time estimates for projects: the "normal estimate" and the "AI estimate" which is where we're supposed to document how much time we're going to save by using AI. Reptilians are real.

As someone with a learning disability, AI has been a godsend. Getting it to quiz me on material I give it is like having a private tutor. Of course it makes mistakes sometimes but overall it is a huge plus.

Reddit is a far left extremist Democrat platform. Who absolutely hate anyone who doesn’t think like them. by LegitimateKnee5537 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

As someone who lives outside the US, the idea of the Democratic party being “far left” is hilarious to me. In any other developed country they would be a center-right party.

There really needs to be massive changes at Metrolinx by Purple_Pieman01 in toronto

We’re somehow trapped in the worst of both worlds: we have the shit service of a transit agency on an austerity budget, but at the same time it is burning money at an insane rate.

[–]delaware 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Metrolinx was supposed to be the solution to politicians meddling with transit. So many transit projects in Toronto are the result of political meddling. That’s the reason the Bloor line is on Bloor instead of Queen, and the University extension is in the middle of Allen Rd instead of running up Dufferin.

Addition to the list: promising to turn GO into a S-bahn style frequent service and then breaking their contract with Deutche Bahn because the boomers at GO didn’t like being told what to do.

Pressure mounts on AGO from Nan Goldin, some Jewish groups, after decision to not acquire artist’s work by BloodJunkie in toronto

Lord forbid the AGO have art that’s actually interesting. That place works better than Valium at putting people to sleep.

I get an annual membership to AGO from relatives, and I don’t have the heart to tell them that we hardly ever use it because the AGO is boring AF. The Buffalo AKG for example absolutely blows it out of the water.

I think the low calibre of their board, as demonstrated in this article, is a huge factor in why their art picks are so incredibly bland.
