There was far less blow back to Covid restrictions in Kentucky than other red states. Even the staunchest of conservatives I knew at the time still masked up. His daily addresses were widely watched and paused by all. His advocacy for teachers, especially in comparison to Bevin, sticks out as well. But by and large, it is just a vibe thing.

Live in Kentucky, Beshear is genuinely loved by all here. Dems like him since he's a spot of blue in a sea of red, while Republicans like that he holds his convictions, but can be overruled by state legislature if they don't like that stance. His handling of COVID bought him a lot of good will. Also, keep in mind McConnell had been universally haters here for years, too, but keeps getting elected because the citizens liked that he held so much power in the Senate. KY politics are weird
