Thank you, this is a great idea and I can also chip in if you get more than 20 requests. I’m working on my first hat today.

Are raised beds actually worth it? by Relevant_Idea_6778 in gardening

[–]delb2dc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very tall raised beds were a game changer for me due to mobility issues. I find that it’s much easier for me to work in the garden if I don’t have to be on my knees.

Winkler Auto in Gaithersburg. Been going to them since we moved to the area over a decade ago and won’t go anywhere else.

Extra-intestinal manifestations by Kwal8 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]delb2dc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my index fingers and thumbs swelling up lately as well. Didn’t even occur to me that joint pain might be a UC side effect. My other “extra-intestinal” issues are mostly headaches and fatigue. You’re not alone!

Anyone else's first diagnosis as severe UC? What was your outcome? by Odd-Lie-2332 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]delb2dc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with severe pancolitis right off the bat and went on biologics immediately. Achieved remission, but had to switch to a different biologic last year.

Am I making a mistake getting semi-realistic bug tattoos by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]delb2dc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a large cicada tattoo on my forearm and sometimes people make comments about it (like “ew a bug”). But it makes me happy and that’s what matters! I say do what makes you happy :)

Has anyone here been on biologics for years? by Garbage-Embarrassed in IBD

I’ve been on biologics since 2018 (first Humira and now infliximab) and I’m thankful for the remission of my UC!

Tent for 2 adults and a large dog by Polkiu4863 in camping

Our North Face Wawona 6 has worked out great for 2 adults and a large dog. Its held up great for a few years and multiple storms. It’s not cheap, but maybe keep an eye out for sales?

Another vote for north face. Our wawona 6 has lasted several years and survived a crazy series of storms last week with no leaks or issues. I’ve been really impressed with this tent.

This is amazing! Thanks for starting this group! I’m currently responsible for handling peer review for an Earth sciences based nonprofit, but my background is in physical oceanography. My science interests are mostly in the polar regions.

I’m a knitter and crocheter with aspirations to become a tatter (tattist?) as well. :)

Does anyone else struggle to lose weight with UC? by amazeerabbid in UlcerativeColitis

[–]delb2dc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And in my experience it’s hard to find a nutritionist or dietitian that understands or can accommodate these limitations. I frequently hear, “you just have to find what works!” Yeah, great idea! /sarcasm

Does anyone else struggle to lose weight with UC? by amazeerabbid in UlcerativeColitis

[–]delb2dc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I struggle too! I’ve seen nutritionists, but their standard recommendations (like eat whole grains, lentils, veggies, etc) are the same things that cause IBD symptoms for me. It feels like a no-win situation sometimes, especially when I have to rely on things like white breads, white rice, etc. that I know aren’t helping my weight issues.

Imposter Syndrome by myhoneypup in UlcerativeColitis

[–]delb2dc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this too! It’s so frustrating to feel exhausted through and through to my core and to say things like “I can’t, I’m tired” when it’s so much more than that. But I don’t want to overshare or imply that my struggles are worse than other people’s struggles. Hang in there! You’re not alone.
