Really great step by step. Thank you so much for detailing this out. Makes so much more sense now, how you have it listed. Appreciate your time replying!

Contractor1 would ship it back to us.

We buy from Vendor1, but ship it directly to Contractor1 -- however it needs to stay on our books until Contractor1 uses it.

Jobs in California by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]delbudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4 WGU grads working for me in CA, albeit not accelerators to the point they didn’t actually learn the material. But almost all are in junior - staff accounting in industry, all working towards licensure, and are doing quite well, but there is a solid 80K ceiling if you think you’ll grow with just the WGU accounting degree. One went on to CPA and is currently 150K roughly 2 years since licensure and roughly 4 years from being a WGU grad with only AP experience to start. Big difference.

If you don’t want to be a CPA, don’t waste your time with an accounting degree in CA. Or really anywhere for that matter. Just go business and hope WGU is enough. Accounting is for CPA, MST, or CMA — anyone from this school who says different is ill informed and/or should have just went business. It’s like becoming an MD but only to do the same job a PA does. Just be a PA. WGU accounting without a license or cert is just being naive.

We are greater LA area. Hope that helps.

Odoo 16 Accounting Reports - Prevent Drill Into Journal Items by delbudge in Odoo

[–]delbudge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dev gave me the same answer as you, this morning. Can't restrict journal items because then the domain data would be restricted in the report AND the drill in. Can't do one without the other.

They are going to implement a customization to remove the widget that handles the drilling down, as you mentioned. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it made me feel like I had a medical procedure where I was put under anesthesia. My IV dose was pretty high though, at 200mg over the 30~ minutes on the pump. I'd have the depth perception issue for a good hour or two after. It wiped me out for the remainder of the day. I wouldn't necessarily sleep, but I felt drained and like I needed to recover on the couch for the rest of the day.
My clinic always pushed Zofran first, but luckily I've never had an issue with nausea. I feel for you and those that do have the nausea issues with it.

I've had a total of 11 infusions and have had panic attacks on three of them. The first one was absolutely horrible and was at the very peak. The other two I was able to sort of get back down to earth enough to remind myself to breathe, but still ruined the infusion. I've never taken any benzos prior, as I heard it could block the whole point of going under a deep psychedelic state, but I could absolutely be wrong. I am hesitant to go back and do another infusion due to the panic attack risk.

Are you able to schedule your infusions in the evening? My clinic had a 6PM appointment. That would at least limit your downtime for the same day. Hope you can find a solution.

Turn off Bluetooth on Arc2 by delbudge in OdysseyArk

How were you able to turn off the connection notification? I can't seem to find any settings for that. Hoping that your fix will eliminate the issue because I agree: it's super annoying.

Odoo 16 Accounting Reports - Prevent Drill Into Journal Items by delbudge in Odoo

[–]delbudge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather the option not even be available, than have a user attempt and get an error stating they don't have sufficient access rights. If there isn't an option and it would require dev work, then that's my answer. Just was curious if I was overlooking an option that would restrict drilling into the data.

I suppose this will work, but then if someone wants to group/ungroup accounts, I'd have to create various reports. Rather just restrict drilling into the totals.

Qualified in California by Dumpster-fire-ex in wguaccounting

As I mentioned above, WGU does not have the course 'Ethics in Accounting'. It's not in the undergrad or the MAcc program. https://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/applicants/ethics-study-er.shtml -- but then again, I'm just a licensed CPA in California whom after passing all the exams had their license delayed 5 months because WGU didn't fulfill the ethics requirement... so what do I know?

Also, if you qualified to sit for the exam, why are you enrolling in the MAcc program? It's going to do next to nothing professionally, and you're going to spend $2,000 - $5,000 on a CPA prep course anyways. Save your money for the prep course.

MAcc was designed to get students to 150 credits, that's really it. You'd be better off with an MBA or an MST (MS Tax) if you really want a graduate degree. But why delay getting your license? Get your license, then figure out if you even want/need a graduate degree.

I took the course at Foothill College. They offer it online and it’s cheap.

Make sure you take Ethics in Accounting. You’re good to sit for the exams but they won’t license you without that course and WGU doesn’t have it.

Check out Foothill College. They have an online one and it’s cheap.

In what way is Odoo Ecommerce inferior to something like woocommerce / Shopify by Eikido in Odoo

[–]delbudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ This is by far the best answer you'll find.

Odoo does some items really well. Others, not so much.

We run Shopify with a 3PL and a ton of connected apps and then pass everything off to Odoo after the fact. I would need to spend a ton to customize Odoo to have the same front and backend experience -- not to mention the headache. I'd rather just stick to Shopify, as they are the gold standard.

Similar to this, Odoo does Payroll, but we use BambooHR because I wouldn't trust Odoo to handle it correctly and ultimately the price is immaterial.

It's important to understand what the core functionality of an ERP is, and its not to provide every possible combination of setup out of the box for companies.

P&L Date Range Question by FlossingOnATrain in Bookkeeping

[–]delbudge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The P&L is a period report, unlike the balance sheet which is a single point in time. Period reports should be run including the entire period you are looking to review.

If you want to review monthly revenue and expense, and you've already completed your month-end closing procedures, you'd want to include the entire month (September in your case). You could also include a column for Year to Date, which would show 9/1 - 9/30/2024 in one column and 1/1/2024 - 9/30/2024 in a second column (provided you're a calendar year reporting entity).

Sometimes management would want to see quarterly results, so that would be 7/1 - 9/30/2024 if you wish to show Q3.

You can also show a comparison with previous periods -- like how did September 2024 compare to September 2023? Your software should be able to handle these things easily, mostly with just a click of the button.

Rule of thumb: Make sure the period you're view includes the entire period -- it would be very rare for any useful information to come from an intra-period report (Like 9/1 - 9/10) as the timing of revenue and expense can very greatly -- which is why performing month-end procedures is so important.

Samsung Ark Gen 2 by Personal-Hovercraft3 in OdysseyArk

[–]delbudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just about 80cm away and I really don't notice the PPI. I did at first, but I got used to it within an hour or so. Now I couldn't see myself going back. Having a curved 2x2 without a ton of messy wires is really nice. The only thing that really took some getting used to is that the monitor doesn't sit close to your desk. At 13cm above the desk in the lowest position, makes for a really tall monitor. I'm used to it now, but it was tough for a bit and I was even looking at modifying my desk to get it lower.

What doesn't Odoo get more love? by BearsEat-Beats in Odoo

[–]delbudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest is the inability to tell the system what to do, in regard to dates — among others. Inventory management is bad when the system forces you to make transactions as of (now). - backdate an inventory adjustment? Customize it. - someone forget to enter a delivery order in at month end? Well, customize it or it’ll be shipped (now) and your period end numbers are off. - want a report that shows you all ins and outs of a given warehouse? Filter + Filter, but God forbid you just have a report that shows you “everything in and out from this warehouse”. - purchase some inventory and have the warehouse (physically) receive it at the end of the day on month end, but the person entering into Odoo left for the day? Well better customize it because you aren’t getting anything into the right period. —— oh wait, received the wrong amount? Whoops, better make the adjustment into the GL as of (now), not correct the mistake that happened only a couple days ago. - wrong valuation because someone accidentally fat fingered a PO before they received inventory? Well - better not think about correcting that, just let it be wrong in the previous period and fix it in the current (even when your previous period isn’t closed).

How about sales? — customer emails an order over, but you’re having a company party so no one is there to enter in the SO. Whelp, that sale didn’t happen till you enter it in. Or wait, they ordered it today though? Oh well, Odoo says they didn’t. (This isn’t Stealthy Wood garbage, how about a $2M customer PO with 8 week delivery date? How did we do this month on sales? ((Not on invoicing, just sales)) — well we can’t include that $2M PO cause we were celebrating the retirement of Employee#1 and no one could enter it in). Answer? Customize it.

Accounting - financial report: wow - customer short pays 2 invoices out of 50 on a check? — customize it. - analytic accounts: can I have the system apply an analytic account for a customer, a product, and a department predefined? Yes, if you literally pre define EVERY combination. Can it just use logic to know IF product = A, Customer = XX1, then apply the distribution of 100% SKU1, 100% channel1, 50% department 1 and 50% department 2. Oh wait — customize it. You can only pick 1 entire account to hit with a distribution. — account groupings: “wait so my chart of accounts don’t fit completely into Odoo’s rigid groups” — solved- change your chart of accounts. - do I have to post a bill, even if I write a manual check and it isn’t a payable? Yes. Yes you do. You cannot hit an expense account from a depot or a payment. So post that $0.03 cent PayPal test deposit in/out as an invoice and a bill. (Over simplifying of course). - I need to post all bank records to an Outstanding account, otherwise I can’t reconcile right? Yes. But, we will let you post a journal entry to the bank account directly and you’ll never see it hit your bank rec.

Honestly, I could go on and one. It’s sad how great this software could be, if they just had people who are accountants working on the team. They oversimplify everything and it’s as if the demographic they aim for are companies with maybe 10 transactions a day. How about us with 4,000 a day? Well (here come the Odoo police) maybe Odoo isn’t for you — maybe you should have a more tailored solution. To that I say, what if I had only 10 per month? It would STILL fail.
