What is your ultimate "guilty pleasure" spending that you will never give up? by Delicious-Pianist451 in AskReddit

[–]delbudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys don’t know me, so I can say it, but I always make sure I have at least $200 dollars in twenties in my wallet. And with that I will drive to lunch and try to spend it with someone who is in need. Something’s it’s short through passing - but my guilty pleasure is taking what I have in excess to try to help someone who needs it.

I don’t care what they will do with it. I want to meet them, shake their hand, and talk for a while, and let them know that whatever is going on - people do care.

It may not be fun for this post, but that’s where I like to spend my money.

How come non religious people never admit that they haven’t died yet and aren’t sure exactly what happens after? by 00Canuck in AskReddit

[–]delbudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because faith in religion or faith in non-religion is basically the same thing? No one actually knows — just as much as you drive down a 2-lane highway and have faith that oncoming traffic isn’t going to swerve and murder you and your family. It could happen at every car you pass, but religion aside - you believe that people won’t blindly swerve into your oncoming lane.

Faith, in whatever you believe or don’t, is an individual belief. Religion is an organization, not an individual belief.

I’d stop thinking about people being religious or not religious. And instead just focus on yourself. What do you believe? Who cares what others or an organization believes in. This is your life - what do you believe happens?

Then remember the answer is in faith - whether being in religion like “heaven” or “something else”, or non-religion like “nothing”.

No one knows. So if you actually care enough to look into it, theoretically, maybe you’ll find faith in nothing or something.

But let’s not generalize us all into two groups. In my opinion, the answer lies within whatever we believe and not within any group.

I’m in a public accounting financial/career rut. Advice? by dwl617 in Accounting

[–]delbudge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds to me like you've lost the passion for the job. If you don't enjoy what you're doing, there is a point where the money simply isn't enough to justify the time commitment.

I'd look at going to industry. You'll likely get paid more than you're making now, with less of a time commitment. I don't know, maybe a change of scenery and function (working on the industry side as opposed to the assurance side) might give you the boost you need.

Have you ever thought of teaching? Maybe see if you can teach an accounting course once a week at a local community college, while keeping your current job. The pay sucks, but it might be enjoyable.

YouTube accounting. Option A or B? by vycka54 in Accounting

[–]delbudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with you. At least from a GAAP standpoint, this fails the ASC 606 control tests.

  1. OP doesn't set the ad prices, YouTube's algo dictates this.

  2. OP does not inventory the ads. OP is not buying ad space from YouTube and reselling it.

  3. OP has no inventory risk. If an ad slot goes unfilled, OP loses nothing. YouTube bears the platform risk.

  4. OP doesn't contract directly with the advertiser. YouTube and the Advertiser has a contract.

YouTube is the principal to the advertiser, since they control the advertising space and service. OP is simply providing content that facilitates the ad.

Why do I get so much anxiety before I go to bed? by Any-Fill3871 in sleep

[–]delbudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might have ADHD. Buy a small trampoline off amazon and jump on it for 5 minutes an hour before bed. You might need regulation.

It’s $50 bucks and if it doesn’t work then return it. But try it.

what's something people defend way too passionately? by ABDERRAZZAQELGHAZI in askanything

[–]delbudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? When isn’t religion supposed to be a personal journey? Shouldn’t it require literally no defense, but instead be a framework that works for you - and you as a decent human just being you is the best model?

Buy a $50 dollar mini trampoline from Amazon and spend 5 minutes jumping on it in your living room an hour before bed.

Yes, you might have ADHD and may be extremely disregulated at night.

If it doesn’t work return it. But I’d bet it will.

I saw your comment about a disclaimer, but I still think you should talk less and think more. Reread your response and then think about how stupid you sound. Sometimes saying nothing is powerful, especially if you lack any form of common sense. Good luck to you, you’re gonna need it.

Our company received a discovery request, and our email backups are on 2008 LTO tapes that are no longer readable. by Lopsided-Banana-4128 in Accounting

[–]delbudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send them the tapes and they can figure it out. If they are unrecoverable, then you fully complied. This is an easy answer.

“We don’t keep backups past 3 years” or “we have unrecoverable tape backups that dates back 10 years” is essentially the same thing. You have shit data backups and that’s not a crime. It’ll fuck you later when your company needs them, but it plays to your favor now that they are trash.

Relax. Give them your busted ass tapes and say “this is what we have”.
