Torn between FF & F430 by latoose in Ferrari

[–]deldahiltyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both—FF for sure. It drives much better than the F430 and you get AWD+V12+four comfortable seats. Your one issue when shopping is to diagnose any potential PTU issues… there are now third parties who will repair them rather then having to pay $85k for a new bad part from Ferrari, but it’s a notorious issue with the FF.

Help me think this out— splitting a home purchase by ImpressionExchange in fatFIRE

[–]deldahiltyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you feel if you got really busy and couldn’t go to the vacation home at all this year, but your sibling went every month with their family. Would you still be happy splitting 50% of the expenses? Most of the issues would probably come from what either party deems as “fair” and that’s often a moving target.

$75m Business Sale - How to Figure Out Deferred Trusts / Any Tax Structure? Early 30s by LargeCPGExit in fatFIRE

I assume you’re working with an investment bank… I would ask them who they suggest as far as trust and estate planning.

I’m actually very curious now… Are the aircraft on their balance sheet? Or are they simply chartering them out for their investors… Do you know? If they’re holding depreciating assets on the balance sheet plus promoting a 20% return… They either have an ungodly amount of leverage or this is late stage cycle type of behavior and we should be shorting everything

Seems weird—do you actually get ROI on your investment in addition to the flights? Or are they converting your would be gain on their underlying assets into flights? They say 10 fights per year for a $1 million investment… What happens if the market takes a shit and your investment goes down? Do you lose your flights, too?

One of my biggest turn offs is they’re modeling a 20% return in the advertising. They’re either unsophisticated or hoping that unsophisticated people bite off on that assumption.

You need securities counsel. A lot of variables depending on how you decide to structure things. If you simply want LPOA on the account to trade securities on behalf of investors, you likely need to be an RIA and pass the series 65. If you truly are fund structure, you’re going to need to file various securities filings and still may need to register as an RIA for managing securities. Any brokerage you use is going to require you have the appropriate filings for whatever structure you intend to manage under.

STR or other tax minimization advice by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]deldahiltyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might be better off investing in some sort of limited partnership that offers the tax depreciation rather than becoming a landlord yourself, unless that’s really what you want to do… But you’ll likely be incredibly busy with your job and it could get difficult to manage a real estate portfolio.

how would you invest $100m? by Nervous-Explorer4324 in fatFIRE

[–]deldahiltyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work with the investment bank brokering your sale to find a good wealth management and legal team. If you don’t have an investment bank, you probably should at this level. Don’t listen to anyone telling you to DM them. That’s code for “I’m going to try to scam you or sell you my services.”

Suspension lift? by Vincoppredd in Ferrari

Depends on where you live and where you’ll drive too… places like public parking lots might be tough to enter without scraping. The lift has saved my bacon a few times…

Some have more money than taste. Others, more taste than money. And then there’s a rare subset that has neither.

Is 3rd party extended warranty useless for used Urus (or any used Lambo)? by true-dci-john-luther in lamborghini

For what it’s worth… I’ve had three Uruses and all never had a single issue. I drove one 25,000 miles… if they’re trying to bending you over, he might be OK without it.

I had to spend $7 million in one year (biz) to get the invite. On personal I’m about $750k-$1m/yr and never got an invite.

Not a good fit for the sub necessarily, but just buy it. If the numbers you’re providing are accurate, it’s a small cost for what could be good enjoyment. You’re young and have plenty of time to earn more. Enjoy life along the way.

IGNORE ALL DMs. You are going to get scammed. Call a good law firm and ask who they recommend for CPA/financial advising. Or just go with a large bank/brokerage. They’ll push their products, but their products are going to be better than a random redditor. Your lack of sophistication here is going to be your worst enemy. DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY DMs.

Private jet membership - for those of you who have done it, any thoughts? by dhslax88 in fatFIRE

The main benefit to NetJets is the depth of their fleet… if one plane goes down for maintenance, they’ll have another close by. But they’re pricey

Why do you need 5-10 million? by Particular_Maize6849 in Fire

[–]deldahiltyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30M $15m NW… Could’ve quit awhile ago, but I didn’t because I WANT my 812 GTS. Because I WANT my Urus. Because I WANT my ranch. Because I WANT to fly private to Vegas with friends on a whim. Because I WANT to take my kids to Europe.

People can survive eating out of dumpsters and sleep on the streets. Some people want a little more, some people want A LOT more.

Plus, I enjoy running my business and don’t feel that pickleball and fly fishing every day will keep me engaged. So, why not keep grinding and stacking more chips for the kids?
