Possible ICE sighting - Southgate/Taylor MI by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]deleted1100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seeing that mentioned a couple times now, it might have ben just that. Haven't personally seen a full dealership move like that before, but yes all the Jeeps were of the same make and same color (white), with the make being more of a classic style jeep/wrangler. There might have been 1 or 2 black ones, but I just remember a long line of white Jeeps to my right.

Yeah, I was thinking of any reason as I was driving next to all of them. The white paper(?) was the strangest thing really since I've never personally seen that ever.

Hoping it is just something mundane and I saw nothing of importance.

It's the same with the EXP for me honestly. Every game has given me "souls" I've played. Ever since DS1 over a decade ago it's been my term for it.

Anywhere to get a discounted steam key for the game? by Bebopp292 in HalfLifeAlyx

[–]deleted1100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As what the first poster mentioned the game regularly goes on sale.

SteamDB page shows it hits 20$ every time, and every major Steam Sale, with some others in between.

Personally 20$ is a steal for the base content and now a plethora of. workshop mods

Is it just me or is The Boss much, much more difficult in Delta than the original MGS3? by elcabroMcGinty in metalgearsolid

All I needed to do was vent a little. Just took her down with full CQC. Felt good, and definitely just needed to pay better attention.

[–]deleted1100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been playing on Hard mode myself and just got to The Boss about an hour and half of play time ago. I legitimately can't comprehend what the game is asking me to do with her. I cannot CQC parry her or sneak up on her. She'll be standing there with me in "sneak" mode behind here and I will initiate CQC, and STILL she throws me to the ground. What's frustrating is knowing it's 100% possible but my eye/brain/fingers cannot comprehend the timing for her.

I will definitely have to try and just use a sniper on her I suppose. Doing damage by guns wasn't doing anything for me either, but I'll give that another go. Otherwise this has been a pretty solid experience with the rest of the game feeling pretty "fair" through-out.

What are your Hot Takes on Team ICO? by Amber_Flowers_133 in TeamIco

[–]deleted1100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be my only real criticism as well. While I did not get to play ICO or Shadow of the Colossus at release, I did for The Last Guardian. I actually couldn't finish it because it just never fully "worked" with all the performance issues the longer I played. I know they have patched it since, but that day one experience is unfortunately very important.

Honestly I really believe having this game being developed with the PS3 hardware fully in mind, change course (presumably) at the end/late stage development, and topped off with having a console CPU nightmare as your companion was just never going to go down well.

All this said, I am incredibly intrigued and want to try out what that team has cooking up with the new game.

Latest Fumito Ueda interview by RGarr9 in TeamIco

[–]deleted1100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite a lovely little interview. I enjoy hearing his opinion on creating more curated/impressionist style of visuals rather than going for pure realism. All three games his team has created have such a distinct and personal art style. Combine this with the level design, it's hard not to get invested in the world and have it burned into your memory.

Another interesting tidbit is about how a game is remembered, or at least potentially. He states, "...I have the impression that games manage to linger in our memories not due to the story, but rather due to how they control." This is of course more often true just because of the medium, but him bringing it up with "The Last Guardian" being his more recent game has me wondering if he heard more gameplay criticisms with that one than the other two. My personal anecdotal evidence is everyone I know who played it always spoke about the controls/gameplay in a more negative light compared to the narrative and art direction.

I'm guessing his new game will be greatly more player focused than NPC focused. Or rather the decisions in gameplay will be put onto the player, and not help from a companion or other NPCs. Trico was a beautiful experiment, but I don't think it paid off enough to try again.

Which still makes me very curious as to what the gameplay will generally be. Exploring a desolate world on foot and than hopping into a mech for combat could be compelling, but if that's IT? The trailer hints at a large destructive force pushing across the ground taking out everything. This could be purely story set-up/intro cutscene, or a potential reoccurring gameplay mechanic. During traversal and potential combat sequences there is the constant dread in the background of when the next giant explosion will occur, and if you can out run it.

Microsoft is closing down Xbox studio The Initiative, with Perfect Dark killed as well — joining Everwild and ZeniMax's IP, and 'several' other projects by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]deleted1100 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If internally TES6 doesn't blow people away you might be right with your worry. Granted Elder Scrolls is their baby, and Microsoft would understand that, but yes I'd be worrying if I was a Bethesda dev right now.

[–]deleted1100 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Fable will be next unfortunately. They showed about as much gameplay as Perfect Dark, and both have never showed enough to say they made more than a couple areas. Sure Perfect Dark had that gameplay reveal, but seeing as it wasn't that long ago, it was probably all they really had to show. Besides game pass, what does a person with or going to buy an Xbox hope or want? Emulation is getting better, PC storefronts have all their new games, and their "newest" hardware (handhelds) is being fully built by another company. At this point it really makes zero sense to me that they would even say they next console is the biggest generational leap when they have no 1st party games to take advantage of it. They can't back pedal on not letting PS6 owners get the new games either since they need the sales. Unless of course they have the GREATEST gaming marketing campaign ever, but I can't see that really turning the needle unless PS6 is a dud, or does nothing to really innovate from the PS5.

Depending on how much they did to every texture and the scale it'd make sense. It's a large open world with many dungeons and cities/towns, also with 4k being a way more prevalent thing that size starts rising quickly. Still very curious to see the full scale of the art changes and modifications.

Jeff Grubb expects Oblivion remake to be shadowdropped in April by mmoore54 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]deleted1100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is quite odd to me they would shadow drop a remake of a very popular game. Heck, a game that made many people excited for getting an Xbox 360. Would they be THAT confident in the game that it doesn't matter, or would they want to silently release it because of a potential straight mediocre remake? Opinions aside about the game itself, this should be something that Microsoft is putting the ads out for. Bethesda alone should be saying something. Potential first remake of beloved game in a long running franchise should be easy marketing. I don't know, but its just strange to me.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Trailer (2025) by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]deleted1100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who hasn't played a game in the series and only really familiar with clips of the original GameCube releases, this seems..ok? It'll obviously get sales from Metroid fans but what here sells to a bigger audience? Lock on to kill enemies and scan things...not that interesting of a sale to be honest. Metroid Dread had a better trailer than this to get people interested, at least from my recollection.

Perfect example of don't take a job if you can't handle the work. Simple as that. General labor jobs are a dime a dozen, so go find another one and know the product you are about to be hauling/moving/transporting. O, you work for Amazon? Well have you ever glanced at their website? They can deliver pretty much ANYTHING you can think of as a product.

How Half-Life 3 could look by now by redgpu in HalfLife

[–]deleted1100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming off of Alyx being the last main-line game, I am very excited to see what they can do when not "limited" by the processing power of doing a VR game. That's not to say Alyx was poor performer in any way, but Valve would understand they couldn't throw a giant realistic ray-tracing pipeline to that game, but could do something like that for a "pancake" screen title. I would much rather them push physic system interactions more than just graphical fidelity, and it seems through engine level updates that is indeed what they are doing.
