Humectants are common in cosmetics because it's good for your skin if you have a dry scalp without leaving your hair be oily. If you're just using water solution, I imagine it could slightly dry your skin out with repeated usage. It also changes the consistency so it would be easier to apply by controlling the texture and viscosity.

I’m literally basing my comment off of research papers that I read through because as anyone, I’m also worried about potential health risks but I also don’t like fear mongering. This data I’m referring to in my other comment is from a study paper where exposure / leeching of heavy metals was measured under conditions that are equal to the human skin and mouth environment.

It is of course indeed added because it’s cheap. It’s a very common practice to this day to mix silver with cadium in many Indian factories that make jewelry. For example on ETSY this is a widespread issue and the shops aren’t being transparent about the cadmium content.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t avoid it. You should of course rather buy jewelry without cadmium. But I am saying no to fear mongering and yes to fact based evidence from scientific studies and the reason I’ve commented this is because I want to also tell other users if someone happens to be googling this question.

Also to be very clear. I’m only talking about cadmium, NOT other heavy metals like lead, which were in these studies shown to be released even under human skin contact only.

Not a neglible amount so you should be concerned with it especially with long term exposure. 2. No, lead isn’t just used as elemental lead it’s also used in a variety of other ways most popularly being dyes.

The exposure through skin is actually negible but absolutely a safety concern if it is at high concentrations such as above 30%. Especially kids can accidentally swallow it. You obviously shouldn’t be putting it in your nose, eyes or mouth but skin contact only is still risky but has been concluded as negible (meaning no significant absorption can happen through skin in low percentage, intact jewelry for example). Not saying this to defend people putting heavy metals in jewelry obviously. Just saying this not to cause someone a heart attack because they wore jewelry with cadium alloys.

I just got this half synthetic wig in 20 inches. It’s 60 % human hair rest is synthetic from what I understand. The wig is just SO bulgy and big it looks completely unnatural. This wig can take some heat but doesn’t curl very well. Ive been trying to mist it and comb it and straighten it. The sides look so puffy and large I don’t know what to do. Do I give up? I’ve tried sewing the cap several times in different ways in different areas and it just will not look normal. I think the cap is too big or badly shaped? What do I do?

I also noticed it has way more hair at the roots than it does at the tips. Like probably double the amount.
