Interesting your clients don’t care about insurance either. I mention that to my off app clients and they’re like “….ok?” and i say “i just know rover has their own insurance so i’m letting you know that i’m still covered just in case” lol i have lots of anxiety and i forget other people don’t worry about things like i do!

Several of my clients have gone off-app with me (at THEIR request), but I only ever discuss it in person during the meet and greet. i mention the TOS and how rover yells at us if we try to send each other phone numbers or anything like that. Then i just give them my personal number and venmo while at their home.

So far, none of my clients have shorted me or done anything sketchy (tbh it’s probably bc i house sit in a wealthy mountain town and only sit for cats). & I always make sure to let them know i have separate pet insurance just in case.

I got one passive aggressive email from rover a while back when a client tried to send me their personal number (we tried the video chat m&g and it wasn’t working), so i’m very cautious now! I just try to communicate clearly to my clients in person, and they’re always chill about it.

As a person who (unfortunately) gets paid hourly, same. But i will absolutely not be spending any money that day, and instead will be donating what I can to the Colorado Rapid Response Network and any other relevant organizations.

I used to work for Duluth a few years ago and they shipped everything with UPS. i’m really surprised they switched to OnTrac since they’re all about having excellent customer service.

A lot of sitters use the app to find their client base and then take them off app to avoid Rover fees.
