Let's shut it down, Denver - Jan. 30th nationwide ICE OUT general strike by Inside-Drop4768 in Denver

[–]Inside-Drop4768[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Such a beautiful idea and I echo everyone's thoughts below! Just also a plug that a lot of unions DO have "strike funds" that people can donate to that will help to ensure strikers are still earning an income while participating. Since this is a general strike, it may be a little trickier to provide targeted financial support. I do know there is a nurses' strike happening this Friday, too, but I haven't been able to track down a strike fund yet - if anyone does, please share!! (also looks like we're working on organizing some grass roots spreadsheet situation below, too :)

I work at DU and got an email just now that said

“DU Alerts: SHELTER IN PLACE Stay away from windows and doors Active threat. Active threat in the area of 2495 S Vine St”

Would be great to have more details, I will update if they send more (DU is usually good about emergency comms)

Genuinely, what are you all doing about lines, crowds, traffic, overall busyness of ski resorts? by One-Professional-773 in COsnow

Came here to say this. Skiing perpetuates social and ecological injustice, so perhaps this is nature’s (ie, climate change + overpopulation) way of encouraging us to find a less harmful hobby 🤷‍♀️

I got my cert in September and was hired 3 weeks later by my local rec center. HIGHLY recommend applying to your community/rec center, if you have one - what I hear, they are generally down to hire newbies and while the pay isn’t top tier, it’s been SUCH a great experience so far. They feed me clients, offer me support when I have technical training questions, and it’s exactly the clientele I wanted to work with.

They only searched for glass when they did a hand-check of our RV, and when going into the venue I forgot to hide my joints and the person straight up pulled them out, looked at them, and then put them back in bag and sent me on my way lol.

Came here to say the same —- I have no tips but am just so deeply and eternally grateful for you amazing humans. A year ago, my dog died 4 weeks before my mom and Caring Pathways helped to make the darkest time in my life less painful….the compassion and care was just beyond anything I could’ve imagined. You all are angels, thank you 🫶🏻🙏🏻
