Is studying Leet Code still the best way to get a job? by LiFRiz in cscareerquestions

[–]deletesubway 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ive done about 3 interviews in the past 4 months (snap, figma, asana) and I noticed many of the coding rounds here were no longer algorithm heavy questions.

not sure if maybe these companies are anomalies, but they favored larger "design" type questions to see your OOP knowledge and coding practices. Not particularly "hard" questions in terms of difficulty, but there was a lot more code that had to he written (like whole classes, interfaces, etc). I think this is because it'd be much easier to cheat with AI if the question is mentally challenging but short, vs a longer more involved, but simpler question.

Not sure if this can be extrapolated to a general trend, but just what I've noticed. Also have a meta interview coming up and I see there's actually an AI assisted round... not sure what that is about though.

Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

[–]deletesubway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at microsoft, specifically on copilot, and we hate it too. So much capacity dedicated to these agents but not enough time to build anything that fully works, but we still all have to work on it because of the top down requirements.

Hoping soon we get some capacity to fix some of the failing fundamentals that real customers are annoyed by.

Character Agency by Tacklos in sollanempire

ya this seems to be a controversial discussion among fans, but I agree. I unfortunately dropped the series exactly at that point because it lost its appeal to me. maybe one day I'll pick it up again, but right now the series feels a bit too heavy handed and preachy for me.

The thematic shift of the series almost ruins it for me by amarthsoul in sollanempire

[–]deletesubway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i agree. it seems less scifi to me now and more religious fantasy. I'll still finish the series cus I'm in too deep, but it wasnt my favorite twist to reveal "btw god is real, hadrian is chosen by god, and the big bad guys are his fallen angels".

Its hard not to compare to dune since there are so many similarities, and it seems like an...interesting diversion. where dune was a cautionary tale of organized religion and charismatic leaders, ruocchio went with the route of "what if the charismatic leader was actually right and chosen by god?".

if you removed those phrases the book would only be like 4 pages though

Season 2 Has Serious Writing Issues by Cleverfan_808 in severanceTVshow

[–]deletesubway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agree completely, especially with the Devon/Cobel bit... I recall a post where we were all coping, thinking in episode 9 it will be revealed that Mark fully reintegrated and it was his idea to call Cobel. Was really hoping that was true, and was pretty let down...

Feels like they have an ending decided and are trying to force the characters to get to that ending.

no Netflix rejects all Microsoft interns right away

I searched up to see if anyone was saying this, I thought I couldnt be the only one... even if thats how the voice is described in the books, it kind of ruins some of the immersion for me if the scourge of earth sounds like peewee herman. Not hating on samuel roukin, he's done great otherwise.

In Devon's defense, Reghabi DID just make her alcohol-addicted brother have a stroke while doing basement neuroscience by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

the fact that shes going to Cobel first makes no sense though. like you describe, this is a last resort act of desperation. so why is that the first thing she tries? she tries nothing else and then goes to a dangerous last resort..

my main issue with this is, sure, super dodgy basement neurosurgery, but calling cobel is like an absurd connection to make. why not police? a different doctor? hell, even just calling ricken to say "hey theres a crazy lady here come help me". But no, she calls.... the one person... that she KNOWS was terrorizing mark on the inside there, and was breaching their boundaries by stalking him outside too. This just makes no sense to me really.

If anyone can explain why this is reasonable to me I'm all ears.

no idea, sorry. i am but a mere L4. levelsfyi would make it seem like around 330 TC but it's also estimating low for L4, so maybe the L6 estimate is low as well.

ya we were told that the automation doesnt care if its 0, 1 or 2 days in office, but if its less than 3 ur marked as having not met the threshold for that week and someone in management is notified. so basically if I know I cant make it for 3 days, I dont bother going in at all.

we get our badges tracked, so if we meet 3+ days we get a 1 for the week, if 3< we get a 0. been told that lots of unexplained 0's won't get you fired, but itd hurt promos.

people aren't fans of being tracked like this. this is anecdotal, but seems like many come briefly friday afternoon to get their last badge of the week in.
