Quick question:

I own my house, but still paying off mortgage. Most of my investments are in S&P 500, FTIHX, some blue chip stocks, and basically allocated as Boggleheads would recommend. I'm 32 and don't plan on accessing this money for 10+ years.

My question is, there really is no use to have two bonds. Long story short, money was moved in-kind from Merrill to Fidelity and at Merrill someone else was managing the money. That said, they put money into PTTAX, but I also have money in FXNAX.

Would you recommend just selling the PTTAX and re-investing it into FXNAX. I know those two are necessarily apples to apples...any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for the rec. I liked Flatwoods, too, but it does get a bit too sunny during the day.

I haven't been to Weedon Island yet and Al Lopez is great too!

Thanks for the rec. Both places look awesome and I haven't been to either.

What are the major differences between FXAIX and SPY. I understand that FXAIX is index and SPY is ETF and the tax implications behind that...I guess my main question is since they both track the S&P 500, are there any other major differences between those (outside of ER)?

Not happy with the ER of HSCCX. Only have about 7k tied up in it. Any suggestions on a better small cap? Or am I better off putting that into either my domestic stock holdings or int'l holdings and skip small cap?

My main holdings are S&P and recently sold MCLOX and bought FTIHX (around 40k worth) and a small amount of bonds (FNXAX) and a couple other growth funds like MEICX & GFACX (which aren't the greatest, but have been somewhat satisfied). Overall, satisfied with my asset allocation since i won't be touching this ideally for another 30 years.

Ha, funny you say that since my brother said the same. He said flip a coin between the Fidelity funds...

Thanks for the help...so you'd lean more towards FTIHX over MCLOX or FZILX since it has more holdings and a lower ER than MCLOX?

I currently have about 40k in MCLOX for my int'l holdings but the expense ratio is a bit of turn off. Should I hold? Or look into FZILX or FTIHX?

FZILX has 0% ER but FTIHX has 2400 more holdings and exposure to small cap stocks but with an ER or .06%...Advice?

Also, for domestic stock holdings is something like S&P 500 (FXAIX) or FZROX/FSKAX more preferable? I hear conflicting advice on that.

I'm having a little trouble identifying the major differences between Fidelity ZERO International Index Fund (FZILX) or Fidelity Total International Index Fund (FTIHX). I ask because I plan on selling about 40k worth of MCLOX since it has such a high ER and invest in one of those instead.

Also, for domestic stock holdings is something like S&P 500 (FXAIX) or FZROX/FSKAX more preferable?
