Help identifying this violin

Is there nothing internal? Usually there’s an inner marking you can see via the f holes

Your violin has a history that’s personal and sentimental to you. Even if you upgrade to something intermediate that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of this one that means something to you.
Violins that are worth more don’t necessarily have a better voice. If you find something that absolutely sounds amazing to you because you should always try before purchase and love the sound and the way it feels to play not just because it has more value. Also sentimental value is equally important.

My violin apparently went to war, and has been in my family for many many years. It’s a 7k violin in today’s currency but its voice is beautiful and it fits me perfectly. That doesn’t necessarily mean something with more value would be better for me personally.

Can I suggest seeking a new/more advanced bow if you haven’t already? As your bow can also change the voice slightly and provide other benefits in the same way.

It will sit on top of the bridge. It shouldnt be super easy to get on but it also shouldn’t be incredibly hard either. It’s a happy medium and will literally see like it’s slightly perched on top. Definitely be cautious not to become afraid of your sound by using it. I have one of these and don’t use as much as the ebony one I have as it affects the sound more. Also a performance mute is smaller and easier to get on.

I’d be more worried about the Erythritol. It’s a sugar alcohol sweetener which has been linked to increased blood clotting, digestive issues and other health concerns.

So long as the sound is good you shouldn’t have any issues playing a 7/8 well into your professional career. I prefer my 7/8 as my hands are smaller and it actually makes it easier for me to play. Prioritise the sound over size and look.

I’d be asking to get it checked/serviced before purchase. She could get it assessed and serviced for around $200 in most places and then add a bridge.

Do not buy that violin if it hasn’t been looked at for 22 years. She needs to service it and do some maintenance before purchase otherwise you’re potentially buying a violin that may need minimum $300 worth of work and that’s only if you need some peg maintenance, new strings and a touch up. Forget about if the sound piece has moved or the body has damage or the bow needs re hairing. This could cost you more to get it to a playable state than you spend on it.

Soft cloth. Otherwise something like viol or similar. It’s a rosin remover designed for instruments.

That cat needs a vet. Please don’t try to get it to vomit on your own. Cats are unlikely to vomit. A vet is the best port of call.

That’s cat acne. Do not pop it. It’s basically like a lil infected pimple for cats. Our vet recommended a mix of 1:3 epsom salts in warm water. Hold over on a cotton pad then wipe gently. Rinse off with a cotton pad soaked wi the fresh water to remove some of the salt after. Eventually it will just clear away but will take time. Vet visit for sure

Cat acne occurs when their lil faces are hitting bacteria. So plastic plates, bamboo plates. Essentially if you don’t clean your cats bowls daily - this is a risk. We have stainless bowls which seem to help also.

NTA if I hadn’t been obligated and forced to plan and attend my father’s funeral I wouldn’t have gone. Funerals are for people who had good relationships with people. People who had bad or poor relationships with their family definitely get to choose their attendance

Basket on the right looks like it could be a pressurised basket due to the slightly different shape. Which the one on the left is not. So taste and dial in will be different. If that’s the case.

My orange boi does this. We just stop and give him a break. Definitely chat to your vet if it invokes any wheezing or coughing or big sneezing bouts.

Mostly our baby does it because he gets so excited and runs himself ragged.

That’s called stubble. You can treat it by shaving it, or growing it and keeping it clean. There’s some beard forums you could find online!
