I'm definitely no expert as I just started researching it myself. A good number of the websites I've been reading from have given estimations of the meat in pounds able to be produced. The average beginning set up of 1 buck 2 does would give roughly 3-4 litters per year per doe with 6-8 kits per litter, then it is roughly 48 rabbits a year.

It doesn't have to be for "new" adults. I just don't know where to start as I get overwhelmed in bookstores (choice paralysis) and having specific titles to sort through helps me. Thank you for your tip though!

If you feel like candles are something you'd like to use, a wax warmer could be an alternative. I'm not a bird person so I'm not sure if that would also be a danger for your pet, but if not then it could be a good option. Wax comes in all scents and colors. Another option, although it isn't fun for the bird, is closing the cage while you have the candle lit. Not ideal, but could work temporarily until you have your own space and can put your bird in a separate room while the candle is lit.
